How much time do you spend studying for anatomy per day?

Here is my situation. Upcoming spring semester, I will (hopefully if i can get into the class) be taking Anatomy 1, English 5 (second semester english/ critical thinking), and Sociology 1.

This means my schedule for MTWTh will be classes from 9 am to 1:30 pm. I live 45 minutes from school so I leave at 8:00 from my house.

This is not the part that is worrying me.

I also plan on taking a CNA course that goes from december to mid february. Meaning the first 5 weeks of school, I will not only have class from 9-1:30 on MTWTh, but then my CNA class from 4-8pm MTWThF (in the same town as my school). (I volunteer at the hospital in that same town friday mornings) So I won't be home probably until 9:00pm each day of the week.

This will give me 2.5 hours to eat lunch, study, and get to the CNA class inbetween school and the CNA training.

I'll probably be able to squeeze in another hour of studying once i get home too.

Is this going to kill me? Will I have enough time to do all this and still succeed in anatomy?

Thanks for reading all this and for the advice!

I did it earlier this year. I had a CNA class Monday - Friday from 9-3 and then my normal classes (including A&P, probability & statistics, psychology, and music appreciation) from 5-8 or 9 PM. I studied during my lunch break and the 2 hour break between classes. I also was not working at the time, so I had weekends to play catch up. It's only a few weeks, so the unpleasantness will only be temporary. I say go for it. :)

Well it probably depends on how well you can memorize things. I spent like 3-4 hours a day most days, counting flipping flashcards when I could during the day plus reading at night. That also included the lab stuff. I got high A's for both semesters but it was hard! I would not recommend taking it with any other difficult classes.

You can do it as long as you have time to study on the weekends.

At least 2 hours a day on A&P

About 1 1/2 hours a day on Chem

Maybe an hour a day on Physiology (Alot over laps)

And our teacher suggests 5 hours a day on Micro but maybe I spend 3.

It depends on the material for that day. And a lot of that time is retyping my notes or the lecture handouts. It also depends on exams I might have that week, so obviously it would be skewed more for the class I had the exam for. Also, I try to take a break on weekends because I do kill myself during the week.

I'm lucky I'm taking the CNA course in the summer, but weekends will be your friend in your situation.

Good luck. :)

I spend between a half hour and an hour, and then on weekends maybe two hours, doing homework for it and stuff.

Thank you all for your feedback!!

Yeah, I'll have my weekends pretty much free, except 2hrs friday, the CNA class friday night, and sunday mornings. Everything else will be homework catchup time! and sleep time of course :zzzzz

People also tell me that I will have to spend a lot of time in open lab though on the weekend. A girl I know who is taking anatomy this semester spends like, her entire weekend in lab. Shes not the greatest student though (she had to take bio three times to finally pass), so i may not have to spend too much time there.

I'll probably actually do better those first few weeks because of how limited my time will be I'll have to be super organized, versus when that class ends I'll have much more free time and will probably lose my set study habits. I'll try not to, we'll see!

Thanks for the support!

I don't study Anatomy every day. I study all day Friday, Sat, Sun, and Mon only for Anatomy. It is the only thing that keeps me alive in there. Our tests cover 5+ chapters each time and we never have any warning about what will be on it. We have to know every fact in those 5+ chapters like the back of our hand. Studying this much will still only pull me out a B or low A. My first test I hadn't nailed down how to study ths amount of info and got a B. The second test I got a very low A.

i spend too much time with A&P II... so much time that i fall asleep with my textbook every night except sunday... the hubby-to-be thinks i'm cheating on him with the book now.... uhg

i studied 2 hours per day after class at school then another 8 at work!

:banghead:i dont think its the amount of time as much as the time being spent good. i spend about 1.5 hrs a day on a&p and lab both together. i use the powerpoint from our website in the book Holes Anatomy and Physiology, and the review questions at end of each chapter at Grayson County College. i have Jackie Butler who helped write the book. i have a (B )avg. i spend 2 hrs a week in lab on side too though looking at models. good luck to everyone.these classes are hard. make good use of your time .

I take notes on the chapter that we will be lecturing on before each class. That takes me approximately 2-3 hours 2x a week. I then do all of the online study items on the book website and also all the questions in the book after we complete the lecture for that chapter. This takes me approx. 2 hrs per chapter. I make sure to stay as long as possible in labs in order to go over the information as many times as possible (many people in class leave an hour or so after class starts when they have gone over the information once). I then try to go over my anatomy flash cards at least once a day or every other day. Finally for tests I study 10-20 hours over the course of the week before the exam. I go over study guides, practice tests, book questions, pretty much anything I can get my hands on. So far this has served me well and I have a mid-high A in the class.

I believe that it can be done, you will just have to come up with the best study habits that work for you and make the most of your time. Good Luck
