Ok, I was going over this pay package and am confused. The breakdown is: -$17.59 taxable -$35.00 in meals/incidentals untaxed(which would be taxed for myself due to lack of tax home) -$150 per month insurance stipened -company provided housing separate -$1000 completion bonus My recruiter states that this would equate to $27.00/hr... how? I am not seeing that?

I am taking my first travel assignment beginning next week and am having second thoughts and possible regrets about quitting my staff job. I believe i am considered an itinerant traveler because I do not have a "tax home". I have been living with my parents the last three years while working, getting mail in my hometown, etc... But I do not duplicate expenses because I did not pay rent to them. I know there is a checklist for determining tax home eligibility and two of the options are duplicating expenses (which I'm not) and working in the place of your home (also which I am not). Do you guys agree that I do not qualify for a tax home? I'm not requesting professional advice, just some quick opinions. Thanks!

I would like to be a cardiac NP who does a combination of inpatient and outpatient care. Do you think the ACNP or ANP would suit this goal better?

How is the role of an NP at teaching hospitals? I currently work at a teaching hospital as an RN and I do not see many NP's hired due to the abundance of interns and residents. If they were hired I am guessing they would get little respect and get the brunt work. So, my question is, do any of you have experience with this? Do you know of any NP's, or are one, in a large teaching hospital??

I feel like that every single day. We always have a written test, some other test we have to pass, or a skills test. I hate those skills tests. I swear they will be the end of me!! LOL!! I also feel my school is cliquish so I also worry about fitting in. I worry I will fail and I also worry I won't make A's. I have set extremely high standards for myself that make it hard to reach. I ended up making a "B" my first semester of nursing school but I have become okay with it. I get so nervous when performing a new skill at clinical! I am so afraid I will get a bad clinical write-up. I am afraid I won't get that IV on the first try or find the right spot for that catheter! hahhah No seriously, I am thoroughly enjoying my break. I am scared to death to start back because I'm an extremely tense person. Nursing school isn't the best for that. I will get thru this!! That is what you have to tell yourself EVERYDAY!

Ok so I need some help on my nursing diagnosis of ineffective tissue perfusion. How do I determine if it is arterial or venous in nature? This directs my interventions. The reason I am doing my diagnosis of ineffective tissue perfusion is because the client has edema, cyanosis, and swelling in the ankles. I can't look at the clients chart or go and speak with the client anymore so that is out of the question. I am leaning to it being arterial because the client has peripheral vascular disease (will narrow or obstruct the vessels), diabetes, and peripheral neuropathy. What do you think? Need more info? Thanks

Where are you guys getting your NCLEX questions? I am in first semester now and I would like to do more but I don't have access to them. I have the cd in the book but that only has max 18 ?s. I also have the NCLEX book but nothing we are doing is in there yet. Any ideas? Thanks

Hello, im having some trouble getting the radial pulse! I was comped on it today and I failed because I was two off before multiplying by two. For example, I got 32 when the teacher got 30. I think it was do to the fact that we started and stopped at different times. If there is a beat in progress when you hit, for instance your starting point on the clock at the 12, do you count it? Or do you wait for the next full beat? Also, when you end do you count the beat if it starts before, for example say the 6 on the clock, but it ends after? Thanks!!

I am taking my first nursing test ever next week generally over fundamentals and head 2 toe assesment. Do any of you remember yours? Any specific ?'s you remember? Hard or no? Basically any tips or anything about preparing or the actual test would be great!

CSantos.. are you in an ABSN program? I start my ASN program the 20th. I have a CPR class and orientation though next week. I am actually enjoying my time off before I start HELL! lol. I'm sure it will be interesting but also very tiring, time consuming, stressful, and emotional.

The only thing I want is to land a good job as a new grad with no prior working hospital experience. That is what I pray for each day. After that I plan to buy a car, just an inexpensive used one that will last me a long time. I then will live frugally and pay off student loans and save, save, save!!! Maybe I can also find a husband somewhere in there too???

I am not on the Presidents or Deans list because my school only does that for people with 12+ hrs. I would be on the Presidents list tho.

I don't think you are a failure at all. Your grades are good for the course load!! I would have never passed Anatomy with another science course. My advice to you is to simply cut your academic load down. Take one science course (maybe two only if you can handle it) per semester. However, some people can take that load and do fine. It all depends on you. Let this be a wakeup call. It doesn't mean you aren't fit for nursing! Nurses can only do so much at a time!
