How much is school costing you?

Published

I am going to a community college in the suburbs of Chicago. Total (pre-reqs and nursing classes, plus childcare) it will cost me about $20,000. I am including the childcare because it is more than half. Just for classes and books would be about $7000. But since I have three kids who are not yet school aged, I have to have daycare while I am in class. It would be 4x more expensive to have them at a daycare center, so I am lucky to have someone come to my house to watch them

State school instate tuition costs about 7 K per semester counting everything, tuition, books, room and board, travel etc. I currently have about 48 K into my nursing education.

Let's see. When I was 19, I decided that I was going to take college courses. Not towards a degree because I had no idea what I wanted to be but just because college sounded like a good idea. I took out student loans to the max (even though I didn't need them) because it sounded like a good idea. Now that I'm 30, and finally have direction, my 2 year ADN will end up costing me about $30K. I do plan on going for my BSN but I'm going to work a little first so I don't have to take out anymore student loans. I also pay $145/week for childcare, own a house, car payment, etc, etc, etc. But, even if I have to sell everything I own to become a nurse, I will. Good luck to all of us!!! We will make it!!!

My accelerated ADN is 43K including books

First semester LPN-RN transition program tuition $980, books $790, clinical scrubs $40, plus gas, etc...qualified for PELL grant, so this semester school has cost me the price of clinical scrubs, gas, and occassional lunches on campus

9k for pre reqs and 28 for core classes

I go to a private university BSN program and tuition is about 12K a semester.. Nursing program is 2.5 yrs long so total is going to come out to be aroung 60K.. :stone

I know that I need 68 credit hours and each credit is $148. But I am going to Midlands Technical College in South Carolina, Part-time. I now what yuo mean by daycare. I also have2 small children, ages 3 and 4, so daycare would be the one to run me up the wall...but if I can get by with little to nothing, I KNOW that you'll be able to do whatever you want, so go for it.

We can do it!!! Nurse moms are the best... I know, I have one! My mom also went to nursing school (in 1980) with twins and a newborn me at home. I just keep telling myself "If she did it, I can do it!"

My pregnancy wasn't a surprise, but the twins were! So I always say "One of them was unexpected, I just don't know which one" Now if I were to get pregnant now... It would be a HUGE shocker and it would mean my hubby's vasectomy failed :D

I made my husband have one too, after our son was born lol! I told him that if he wants me to finish nursing school sometime this century, we cant have anymore until I graduate:D

Accelerated BSN program, private school....

at the end about 52K :hdvwl:

I think I'm going to pay around 25k for a 2 yr. After reading these posts I feel like this is a lot

The spring semester's going to cost $1,602. I registered this morning and got the bill. Dunno how I'm going to pay for it since I can't get financial aid. Ah well could be worse, right? Beats paying $8000 a semester like when I went to PSU.

Specializes in NeuroICU/SICU/MICU.

6 semester BSN (with a couple classes at the community college), my total tuition will be $17,500. That's just tuition, without books, living expenses, etc. Luckily, I was one of the last to sign a contract with a local hospital to have my tuition paid in exchange for 4 years of work when I graduate :yeah: So, it hasn't really cost me anything but books and other incidentals.
