What Pre Req Books have helped while in Nursing school?
I'm starting nursing school next week and the only book I have kept from my pre reqs is my A&P book. I've sold all the rest. I figure the A&P will probably help me out the most in nursing school. But I guess I'll find out.

Orientation exactly a week from today!
My orientation is on the 10th and classes begin on the 11th (Jan). I've never been this excited to start school. I'm sure I'm going to regret that once classes begin and all the workload starts lol. I feel like I'm begining a new chapter in my life and I am so pumped! I'm already freaking out about getting all my books, school supplies, etc.. Congrats to everybody else starting Jan! Hopefully this semester goes by as smooth as possible.

Which NCLEX books to review with?
Thanks for the feedback. It looks like Saunders is the best book to go with.

Which NCLEX books to review with?
I'm going to be starting nursing school this January and I read alot in the forums how doing review questions from the NCLEX books help a lot and get you prepared for the actual test. Some schools use the ATI books to do those NCLEX types of questions, but I don't think my school uses them. So, which books would you recommend to a beginning nursing student to practice those NCLEX questions. I would prefer a book that is organized in a way that goes by topics so I can easily find the questions to what I am currently studying in school. Thanks.

What you wished you'd reviewed?
That's a good question. I too would like to know what to study before starting nursing school. I begin Jan. 11 and am really anxious.. Since I have a lot of free time due to the holidays, I would like to review stuff that is essential in knowing for NS.

My nursing dreams are over . I failed.
I am so sorry and I really hope this isn't the end of your dream. You've seem to come a long way and you shouldn't stop now. I have to agree with your family. At this point, what else have you got to lose. Try talking to the teacher and explaining your situation and hopefully you can catch a break. If not, then maybe take it up with the Nursing director or dean. I really hope everything works out. I haven't even started nursing school yet and I am already scared of failing. :uhoh21: Good Luck!

Feeling isolated in school
I feel you.. I've been in those situations before where I feel like I'm the odd one out in a group. And I'm sorry that those other girls didn't feel the need to at least include you in their discussions in your skill lab. That's horrible. You should try to start talking to a person you feel the most approachable and hopefully build yourself up from there. I am starting nursing school in Spring and I am going to a school where I know no one so I'm scared as well and only hope I can find a great group of friends.. It hard because I too had a great group of pre-nursing friends but they got accepted to another skool and me to another one. It sucks, but that's life.. I'm hoping things get better for you.. But try to break out of your shell a bit and who knows, you might make a few friends. All the best of luck to you! :)

UTHSC at San Antonio fall 09
AZN, Thanks for the reply.. I figured those were probably the locations where clinicals would be held since they are very close to the school. I just want to make sure in what I decide because in the letter it said that if assigned to the VA Hospital for the 1st semester, you will more than likely continue clinical rotations with them througout the program. But I agree that your experience in clinicals has a lot to do with the instructor involved rather than the location. But, hmm, that's strange that you didn't really learn much in the 1st semester.. I thought the 1st sem is always the hardest. But I guess you learn more along the way. Tula, I have not been able to register because I have a hold from Student services saying that I have a course deficiency which I am completing this summer. It sucks though because I don't finish classes till mid-Aug so I'm going to be registering very late. I hope I can get into all the classes. :/

UTHSC at San Antonio fall 09
Hello, I'm new here and wanted to ask if anyone has received a letter from UTHSCSA about being assigned to one of their clinical sites. I was assigned to the Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital. My problem is that the date and time that they assigned me for their background check conflicts with one of my lab classes. I called the number in the letter to ask them if I could reschedule my apointment but they said they wouldn't be able to and if I can't make it then they could assign me to another clinical site. I wasn't sure so I told the lady I would call back and confirm later. Before changing my clinical sites, I just wanted to know if anyone has done their clinicals at the VA Hospital and how their experience was there. I'm thinking of just keeping to my assigned clinical. But, I wanted to know what other places they offer to do clinicals? Thanks!
