How much do you owe in loans?

Published

I was wondering how much did nursing school cost you? I'm not even in nursing school yet, at first I didn't know what i wanted to do so I took some uneccessary classes and I have 20,000 in loans already. I'm applying to the ASN program for Fall and it cost 8,000. Is this about average for prereqs and nursing school?

Now I don't feel so bad, not being rude or anything. 8,000 for 2 semesters is a lot.
University at Buffalo (public 4 year school. Part of the SUNY system) charges out-state candidates about $13,000 (roughly) for 2 semesters. In-state is half that amount.
I will be at the maximum I can borrow next semester ... 46,000 - I still have a year and a half to go. Not sure how I will pay for the last year and half, but will apply for A LOT of scholarships. Guess that is what I get for changing my mind about what I want to do for sooo many years.

Wow, I had no clue that there was a maximum amount. That sucks if you really need a loan.

I go to a cc, and I took 2 years of pre req's (2 courses per semester) and then 2 years of Nursing courses, I took out about 1000 extra each semester for books/living expenses and I will owe around 18,000. Thank goodness I am just about finished! I feel that it is worth every penny though, at least with nursing, you will get a job in your field!

no loans here, I had VA benefits;)

about 60,000 when I graduate next year. I go to a private school which is about 21,000 a year (for me it is only 17,000). I get a few grants and things, but it wasnt enough...so oh well

I have about 16,000 left from my first BA. I'm waiting to hear if I got accepted into Drexel's ACE program. That's another 30,000 for an 11 month BSN program. Plus 3-5,000 for books and other fees, plus a few grand to finish my prereqs. Also you really can't work during this program, so another 10-20 grand for living expenses. Thank goodness I'm married and have some support, but I'll still have to pay 1/2 our expenses as we can't afford to live on just my hubby's salary right now. I'm glad nursing can be as lucrative as you make it, and I hope I can pull through school and my first year!

I'm sure I will easily owe $30,000. I don't worry about it much, I have no other choice but to take out loans. It will be worth it in the end.

I will graduate in May of 2007 with $ 5,300 in loans with my ADN. I am going to have my employer pay for the BSN with tuition reimbursement. I am glad that those of you with a lot in loans are still young. You will actually live to pay them off.....

I estimate that the total cost of my ADN (community college) will be $9000, with between $6000-$7000 in loans.

$40,000 was the cost of my education. I pay $500 a month back for 9 years. Only 6 1/2 years to go:uhoh3: .

I go to a private college and am looking at around $25,000 in loans. Just think, I paid some out of pocket, scholarships, and grants! uggh! :banghead:
