How much do you owe in loans?

Published

I was wondering how much did nursing school cost you? I'm not even in nursing school yet, at first I didn't know what i wanted to do so I took some uneccessary classes and I have 20,000 in loans already. I'm applying to the ASN program for Fall and it cost 8,000. Is this about average for prereqs and nursing school?

I got my prereqs at a CC and I'm attending a fairly expensive BSN program. When I'm finished, I anticipate owing about $45,000 in loans. I try not to think about it too much because there isn't any other alternative. I'm just greatful that there are loans and financial aide available for me to go to school and get my degree.

I am in North Ga. At Dalton State College and once you've been accepted into the A.S.N. PROGRAM it's about 1500.00 a sememster (2 semesters) a year. So I guess it depends on the school and where you live.;)

I agree with you. Im taking my prereqs at the community college (paying out of pocket one class per semester) and will be planning to transfer to an Accelerated Bachelors to BSN program, which will then cost $35k. Since I have a bachelors degree already, I only have to take the science prereqs.

I am hoping that one of the local community colleges here in the Chicgo area opens up a night and weekend ADN program so that I can attend it at the lower tuition of $4500 per year. Since I already have a bachelors degree, I am not eligible for any Federal grant programs. If Im lucky I can find some scholarships, but it will be loans for me. I have to keep my fulltime day job until I graduate, so my loans will only be for tuition and books, uniforms, etc. But I also have my old student loan of $10,000 that Im still paying on so, I hope to find a job that will pay off some of my nursing school loan debt. But I am also glad that loans are there for those that need them.

hummmmm well i just finished my bn program add that together with a year of upgrading and a year where life fell apart and i owe about 30,000. now the scarier thing is that my program had an added bonus of helping out financially and well with me they did. minus my last year of education i received around 114,000. in funding ..... i will add that i have 2 kids. sooooooooooooo i freak about what i do owe but i am happy that i didn't have to cover the total amount :)
