How many of you here wear ted/support hose to work?

Published

I'm a little embarrassed to wear it to work only because we have to change into the hospital scrubs in the locker room...

I wear them all the time, leg pain hasn't been a problem since. When people see them I just tell them why I'm wearing them and a lot of the guys and girls I talk to usually want to try them out too.

I will be wearing my compression socks that I have for running marathons. I am going to be starting out as a nurse at 44 years old. You'd better believe I'm going to do everything I can to protect my legs and feet.

I do I do. Who cares? I'm on my feet running alllll day 13 plus hours before I stop. I'll take whatever help I can get!!

No need to be embarrassed at all. Guy’s legs need the support just as much as the ladies. If you don’t have any issues going on with your legs that require medical attention a good support hose might give you some good protection and support. Good ones I know of are Leggs Active Support or Sheer Energy, Nonsense also has some called Support and Smart Support. These all provide excellent support and last for quite a long time from my experience.

Thanks everyone. I wear the full half body ones. I love them, just a little embarassed having them on when changing in front of everyone.... Im sure no one cares :)

I definetly noticed a difference the first time I wore mine, and will never go with out them. NO reason to be embarrased putting them on! No one is even really paying attention I'm sure, and as soon as they walk out of the locker room they have about a zillion other things to worry about other than whats under your scrubs. Save your legs!

When I've worked bedside nursing and been on my feet alot, I've always worn the "full support" regular pantyhose under my uniforms (I always wore the L'eggs "Active Support" hose). They look like regular pantyhose, but not as sheer. I believe you can also get them in knee-high style (although I always wore the regular pantyhose). Made a big difference in how my feet and legs felt by the end of the day.

In fact, I liked them so much with uniforms that I started wearing support pantyhose (or knee highs) for other, non-work situations (just regular support pantyhose, not the "Active Support" level of support). They look the same as regular hose (maybe a little less sheer), but feel a lot better -- plus, they don't run as easily, so they last longer.

I wore those when I worked the floor and was on my feet 9 hours at a time. Now I sit most of the day- probably just as hard on the body. But no, I wasn't embarrassed. And guys do wear hose too.

I do! They're far more comfortable than not wearing them, plus they help prevent the formation of spider veins. I already had spider veins. I'm only in my early 30's and have never been pregnant (pregnancy exacerbates spider veins). I went to a specialist to get a cosmetic procedure to get rid of the spider veins, and when the MD did an ultrasound on my legs he found some mild reflux of blood indicating incompetent valves. He highly recommended that I wear the TED hose as often as possible, not just work.

I no what they are and I plan on using them when I work as a nurse in the future.

I didn't really have the achy leg problem when I was a CNA, but when I got my first nursing job my legs ached SO bad ! I had to buy compression stockings, and they rock :) And I got some Nikes, they are great too. I know tons of nurses & doctors who wears them. Don't be shy, go get some! They are found a lot at scrub stores too so check them out.
