Welcome to the site Heather! I hope you find it informative as well as entertaining. I'm 43 and am graduating in May. I don't have any kids but there are quite a few of my classmates who are of similar age and do.
The best advice I can give is to make time for your studying AND your family. Even though school may seem difficult at times (make that most of the time) you can do it. You will be surprised how fast the actual nursing program goes by. (although at the end of each semester it seems like it is taking forever).
Good luck!

Hi Heather,
I turned 40 last September. I have 5 sons. Are you by chance from Dublin, CA (Just guessing from your screen name and state)? We just moved from there back to PA last summer.
Hugs,
Wendy

My name is Rhona and I am 36. I will start nursing school this fall. I know alot of women entering the nursing field. A friend who just graduated said that 2/3 of her class were women, who were either married, or marreid with children. Good luck to you! May all of our dreams come true.

Hi! I'm 39 with 5 kids still at home! (16, 13, 9, 9, and 7) and a wonderful husband who cooks, cleans, and helps me study whenever and whatever he can!
I'll graduate in July with LPN, and in July of 2004 with ASN.

Hi fellow Californian! I am new too to the board...my name is Anita and I live in the Central Valley, near Merced. Currently enrolled in a LVN program.....just finished my first 6 months.....will be graduating January 2003. I am 44 years old, will be 45 when I graduate. I look at this as another step in my ever changing life, one that will be very fufilling indeed!! You'll be surprised at how some of the "youngsters" will come to us "matures" for information!!! I have three kids total...two still at home(18 and 11) and if its one thing that I have learned from being in the nursing program and that is, remember that this is worth it! Also allow yourself to breathe too....take in a show with the family, board game night, cuddle time or whatever that brings some kind of balance. I wish you luck and hope to hear from you!!

Hello, I'm another Marie !!!
I'm 42 with three sons 19, 13, 12, my oldest son is in college and lives on campus BUT it's only 1/2 hour away so we see him often !
He doesn't turn down hand outs either..lol.
I will be 45 when I graduate.. It's weird because I'm the 3rd generation in my family to go back to school after age 35. My mother and her mother both went back in their late 30's to become teachers... Wow.
I have two sisters that are RN's, five sisters in all, so 3 of us will be nurses.
WOW Julielpn 5 kids ! Glad you have a GREAT husband !!
