We paper chart everything too. Of course, the only benefit I see to it is that I don't have to worry about making late entries all the time. It's so difficult to find time to chart that usually I always have to chart "after the fact." But, I would love to chart on the computer because it just sounds so much easier to me.
Yay for computers!
I work through an agency and have been to a several long-term care facilities. I have yet to see one that didn't paper chart. Computers just haven't made it into that area.
Our local hospital went to computerized charts just last year, so I'm sure they are still working out the kinks. If I go back to school for RN, I will need to learn computerized charting for the first time. I'm sure it will take some getting used to, but at least the hospital itself should be well adjusted as it will no longer be a "new" system for them.
Hi
Well, about 3 yrs ago. we started computer charting. Everything is computerized. At the time we were told the goal was to completely do away with the paper chart.YEH................................
Fast forward to today....................we do more paper charting then ever PLUS all the computer stuff!!
Everytime we turn around or go on vaction, we come back to more & more paper forms!! I don't get it.
We have switched to computer charting recently.
Charting is charting. Computers do not make it less of a chore.
By the time I find a computer, log in, remember passwords and do all the required pointing and clicking, I could have filled out a paper assessment report in less time.
I will admit that the I& O's and vital signs have been easier.

Just wondering. We are so behind times, everything is still on paper and it takes FOREVER to chart everything. The MAR, I/O's, Charing are all paper. Anyone else still using the paper trail?
