I am searching how many prerequisites there are to prerequisites and it seems like it will take me ages to get all of them done! I did not take chemistry in high school and I had a C+ in Biology so I definetly need some brushing up. In order to get to A&P1&2 eventually, I will have to take... Basic biology, intro to biology, general biology 1, general biology 2, and then finally the A&Ps...that's 6 semesters just for those! Also, concepts of chem, general chem 1, and general chem 2; not to mention microbiology and all the 3 credit courses. Is this correct does it really take this long for a full-time student? Unsure of how people get done in 1 year.

At my school the only prerequisite for anatomy and physiology (Bio 241 and 242) was general biology (Bio 160), and the same goes for microbiology (Bio 260). The only chemistry class required for my school's nursing program is introduction to chemistry (Chem 121) and its only prerequisite is preparatory chemistry (Chem 100). It's the math courses that get people here. We need to take statistics and have all of our pre-college math done, if we weren't placed at a college level. That takes most people three or four quarters to complete.
I just finished my prerequisites after going to school part-time for almost three years. It seems like you'll never get there, but you will. :)

At my program I had to take either intro to biology or intro to general chemistry before taking A&P. In order to take basic biology you needed basic English, and for chemistry to have passed college algebra.
Important to note that different programs can have completely different requirements. Also some people may already have college credits or challenge by placement exam some of the course work which can allow them to skip some time taking pre-reqs, allowing them to get through faster.
It took me 2.5 years of part-time school to get through all of the pre-reqs for nursing school.
You may find it helpful to meet with an adviser and map out the best sequence to get all the pre-reqs done so you can see exactly which courses you need to take, which you may be able to test out of, when to take them, and how long it will take for your specific circumstances.
Thank you so much... I have not taken Chem at all not even in high school and pulled a C+ in Bio, didn't care at all about my studied at the time... So I think I would, like many, benefit from taking intro courses, better that than having to retake a&p1 2,3x! Thanks for the advice, I will check with an advisor ASAP. I appreciate the insight.

What school are you attending?
At my school there are no prerequisites for A&P so I have been able to finish them up in my first two semesters. For my school it is completely possible to have to prerequisites completed in one year.
I agree you should meet with an academic advisor to make sure you are on the right path.

For my school, the only prerequisite for anatomy and physiology 1 was that we take both biology and chemistry in high school and pass. If we DIDN'T, we would have to take an intro to biology course and an intro to chemistry course.

The only pre-req for AP 1 at my school is Gen Bio and all you need for Gen Bio is College Algebra and English I.

Basic reading and math for my school. I don't see how people can finish in a year - it's taken me 2.5 years.

I only have to take general bio 1 for A&P 1 and then A&P 2 after that. To take clinical pathophysiology you have to take bio and A&P 1 and 2. I have to take any chemistry course to take microbiology.

No prerequisites for me, but I have a strong science background so I was lucky. There were a few in my A&P 1 class that struggled because of this, and it's definitely apparent in my A&P 2 class - I wish they did make folks get the prerequisite classes to be honest with the option of testing out.
I'm almost done with A&P 2 now and I've gotten straight As through my classes, but there are others that aren't as lucky - one lady in our last A&P test on cardiovascular/blood/lymphatic system got 3 questions out of 37 correct, and she got through A&P 1 with a C; she will probably end up finishing the class with a C or D as her grades have been consistently low because she doesn't have a strong science background. She's got no chance of getting into the college's nursing program because it's just that competitive - I'll finish this semester with a 4.0 and even then my spot in the program isn't guaranteed (This sounds cold, and I'll agree, but it's the brutal nature of admissions at my college haha ).
I will have gotten my prerequisite classes out of the way in a year, and then some extra non-nursing classes that would count toward my associate's... but honestly I think should take a bit longer but then have the option of testing out of things like biology, chem, and math.

There were no prerequisites for the a&p classes at my school. We were told it would be beneficial to take general biology before jumping into these I courses, so I did just that and did well in the a&p's. For micro, the only prerequisite was general biology.
