  1. Good point. I’m trying to get it all done ahead of time so I don’t have to worry and just in case I don’t get in it will still help to have that all done if you end up having to apply for Spring.
  2. It’s 3 weeks and 5 days from today... I’m anxious to know too but I don’t know how knowing sooner will help it sounds like it will be online, nothing really to do except wait anyway.
  3. I'm aware of the statistics page. I don't feel confident because of my overall GPA although my prerequisite GPA is good, I am also applying to HCC. Good luck I hope you get in this time.
  4. Hi everyone, I decided to make a post about USF’s BSN program because I hadn’t seen one already created. I just submitted my application but I don’t feel very confident, I have a 4.0 prerequisite gpa but my overall gpa is a 3.22, I am a current USF student. I hope someone can give me insight into if I have a chance or not. Good luck to everyone applying.
  5. Congratulations!
  6. Your scores are solid, but we can't tell you if you will get accepted or not. Generally, all nursing schools are very competitive, and your chances depend on how many people are applying. Does your school post the average GPA and TEAS score of previously accepted students? That could give you an idea of where you stand.
  7. Great, I'm glad I could help!
  8. I couldn't wait 6 years. I would do the math and figure out how much money you will be making if you wait 6 years and work as a CNA while you are on the wait list, and compare that will going to school for 1 year and not being able to work and paying 13,000 but then working 5 years as a LVN. For example in my area LVNs make an average of $19.74 an hour so 5 years working at 40 hours a week 19.74 x 40 x 52 x 5 = 205,296 over 5 years, subtract the 13,000 that school cost = 192,296 divide that final number by five and you would average $38,459 a year. CNAs in my area make an average of $11.35 an hour. 11.35 x 40 x 52 x 6 = 141,648 an average of $23,608 per year. Just going by numbers the obvious choice is to go LVN. The gap between each option will grow and time goes on which puts LVN even higher in your favor. I think you would enjoy it more as well since you have been a CNA 8 years, you sound ready to move on. To answer your question about moving to NY, "LPN's transferring from another state can be become licensed in New York by endorsement. All that is required is to provide verification of licensure from previous state of license." LPN Programs in New York, License Requirements | PracticalNursing.org I say go for it!
  9. Hi, everyone! I am taking Intro Chem with lab, Human Nutrition, Renaissance to Modern Day, as well as Micro-apps. I tutor at my college and volunteer on Fridays, so that has been keeping me busy as well. I am applying to BSN programs this year hopefully I will start nursing school Fall 2018. I've been reading threads on the nursing schools I want to go to since I was in high school and now it's finally my turn to be part of one, it's surreal. Good luck everyone I hope the semester goes well for all of you.
  10. Oh and actually use your books, for the classes like anatomy, biology, and chemistry. Underline important terms and do the checkpoint questions and the end of chapter quizzes. They gave me a deeper understanding of the material and led to higher grades!
  11. No that's a reasonable courseload, you should be fine. If I could give you one piece of advice I would tell you to use Quizlet. I'm a kinesthetic learner and it makes learning course material more interesting and retainble. Figure out what works for you. Good luck again!
  12. I just read your previous thread where you said that you will be transferring from CC to WSU. WSU only has 8 prerequisites which will take you a year. Admission to their BSN program only takes a year because you will spend 3 years in their program. WSU Prerequisites Anatomy 2100 (Human Anatomy I) Anatomy 2120 (Human Anatomy II) English 1100 (Composition I) Psychology 1010 (Introductory) Psychology 3410 (Lifespan Developmental) Chemistry 1020 (Organic) Biology 1050, 1070, 1120 or 1150 Statistics 1600
  13. Thank you. You will have plenty of time to finish your prerequisites, good luck!
  14. That's strange that your supervisor would ask you to write your own recommendation letter, is there anyone else you could ask?
  15. It depends if you will be applying for an associates or a bachelors program. Prerequisites for an associate program can be completed in a year while bachelor program prerequisites are completed in two. I'm applying to bachelor programs and I am on track to finish all the prerequisites within two years. Hope this helped.
