I am curious as to how many you are going to apply for. I'm going for ABSN and I have 7 that I am interested in.
Yep, it's a whopping $100k. This is the figure that the school gives with all probable costs included, like health insurance, living expenses, transportation etc. Tuition and fees itself is only about $18K per semester. I'll probably wind up spending closer to $85k total for the entire program (loans, school grant, work-study and out-of-pocket.) But still, it's expensive. My stats? I have a B.A, in Government, and a 3.25 cumulative GPA (NOT including prereqs, b/c I was already accepted into the nursing prog before I even started taking those.)
That's awesome that you got in to John Hopkins! When I think of top of the line programs, I think of JH. Congrats. That gives me some hope seeing as I do not have a 4.0 GPA :)
I applied at community college, but the local community college has like 200+ applicants in a given admissions cycle, so it becomes near impossible to get into. I was rejected once- then I started working on other classes so that I could transfer into a BSN program. I transferred last fall, and applied in December, and was accepted into the inaugural BSN program at Notre Dame of Maryland University. I had a 3.5 GPA at acceptance with all of my pre-reqs complete, so I begin my BSN program next month. :-)
After taking pre reqs at thr local community college & get my associates in pre nursing, I applied to 4 BSN programs in my state. I was rejected from 2 state universities (that seem to love out of state applicants & the extra tuition they can charge them), waitlisted & accepted at another school & accepted at the PP's school. My biggest piece of advice is apply to as many schools as you can & keep an open mind. I had no idea where I would end up at this fall but am really pleased with the school I will be transferring to.
I'm planning on applying to three, maybe four, ABSN programs, depending if I decide to hedge my bets and apply to a private school in addition to SUNY/CUNY programs. Fingers crossed.

I plan on applying to three or four programs this fall. My options are limited as I did not study science during my undergrad (although I earned an A+ in a&p, so I think I'll manage) and therefore I'll only be applying to schools that don't require chem or microbiology. If things don't pan out with the first few applications there are a couple others that admit applicants in the spring. Otherwise, I guess I'll be spending a year catching up on all those science courses!
