How many hours a week do you study??

I was wondering how many hours a week you study for your nursing classes? I am going to be starting nursing school next semester and I was wanting to know what to expect study wise. I know some people study more/less than others but I just want a general idea. Thanks

I study everyday about 2-4 hours for two classes. During test week, I just review.

It really depends on the week. Some weeks I hardly study at all or just review things. Before tests I usually study allll weekend.

I've never made less than a B, I almost almost make As (not bragging, just saying for some people it works). Part of it for me is that I thrive and do well under pressure.

dont study till 2-3 days before the test. Try to have 16-20 hours in before taking the test. Currently have an A- in theory grade

I study about 9 hours a week, broken up over 3-4 days. I don't cram before the test, and I try to spend about 1-2 hours going over NCLEX-style questions (Saunders). I think consistency is the key. Try to go over the material before lecture, and do a quick review after lecture. Don't wait until the last minute to study, and don't try to do marathon study sessions - I know they work for some people, but I have found breaking the sessions up to about 1.5 - 2 hours saves me from having to go over material again and again.

I would say between 6 and 8 depending upon whether the test was near or not.

Right now I am averaging about 3 hours a week......which is much less than i am used to- but the class I am in ...I think it's more common sense than book smarts....so I find it easier to study a lot less.

Not nearly as much as I should. That's why im getting a B this semester.

I try my best to study 2 hrs/day but I give myself a day off on Friday. So, a total of 12 hrs/week. I am in my first semester which I was told is the easiest so I am sure I will have to study more next semester. I have an A average so far. My final is all that is left, thank goodness. I graduated from a University w/ B.A. and I did well so I thought this wouldn't be too bad. I was shocked as too how much time I do have to put into it. We are in class 5 days a week from 9-2 so to study a few hours on top of that is rough. It took me about a month to get into the swing of things w/ nursing school. It is very different than other programs, very intense.

At least an hour a day-more for exams.

Right now, with the last test and a cumulative final coming up, it doesn't feel like enough! I am burned out and in to a procrastination mode, hence, here I am on allnurses!!

I tend to be a crammer also, but agree with what BoomersMom says about some of it being common sense for some of what we've covered. I think it will vary with your learning style and the classes you are taking.

actual studying- not on a regular basis, but maybe 6-10 hours when there is an exam. Now papers/assignments and things like that probably about 5-10 hours a week.
