Did anyone wait longer than 72 hours to get their results on the BRN website? Tomorrow is R-day for me and I'm worried I will wake up and not have the results. Does that mean I failed or the BRN is backed up. if anyone can tell me that would be great!
mousy4life, what area in so cal do you live? i had kind of the same problem but took a job where they are just going to throw me on the floor for 8-12 weeks of training since i missed out on the new grad orientation. i weighed the pros and cons and the pros won it for me. sure it would be nice to have the orientation but my friend just took a 2 week orientation and said that she didn't even learn much but the basics. plus, can't beat working 5-10 minutes from home and when i have done my time they are a level II trauma center and i would like to eventual get there!
I wanted to do new grad program but I missed all the deadlines. And I heard that you only qualify before you've taken the NCLEX. So I guess I would just be hired on as a nurse and follow a preceptor around for a few weeks and then all by myself it is.
Not quite correct. New grad programs are for those that do not have any experience once they graduate. And almost all have taken and passed the NCLEX-RN before they have started, the exam does not change their experience level.
What you are speaking of is what is called the IP, or Interim Permit. That is only valid for up to six months, until one writes the NCLEX exam and that it is gone. You either pass and then are granted the RN title, or you do not pass and then are no longer the GN status.
Getting a job as a new grad is different than the new grad or GN status given by a Board of Nursing.
I would go ahead and get the NCLEX exam done now, your chances of passing are better and also easier to find a job. There are only so many slots for the new grad programs and those with the RN after their name when they apply will always have better chance of getting hired.
Best of luck to you.

Ah, okay so I did get them mixed up. Thanks for clearing that up. The only thing that sucks now is that all the programs are either filled or have already started. I took the NCLEX already, just waiting on fingerprints to come back so I can get my results.
well i took my test 8-6-08 and i just found out today. I think the CA website updates there site late becasue yesterday (8-8-08) and it kept saying "last updated on 8-7-08. I woke up at 2 am this morning (8-9) and it said that it was currently updating....then i checked at around 530 am and my name was up so it took me about 3 days.
I went up to 120 questions, I took my test at 8 am....if you took yours at a later time that could be why. But also I have some friends that foudn out like 2 days later.....that scared me too. I also realized that the BON in CA updates each day at 0200 the next day.....for example i went on yesterday and it said that the site was last updated so you may want to check around 5 or 6 am daily. I am sure you passed, believe me i spent thursday and yesterday depressed, crying and so sure i had failed. I got a lot of priority questions and my friends that had already passed told me they didnt get very many priority questions so that freaked me out even more, but sure enough i chekced today and it was up. My friend took hers in gardena and waited 5 days to find out online. I took mine in anahiem.
Are u only allowed to take the take until after ur fingerprints are cleared? For example, they will not issue u an ATT unless ur fingerprints are cleared? I've always had issues w/my fingerprints not showing up correctly and such, that i almost always had to get refingered. I have not heared anything from the BON yet regarding my fingerprints, so im assuming it went thru alright? I already got my ATT weeks ago. I just hope the fingerprints wont hold up my results when i take the test this monday!

Ca will allow you to sit the exam if your file is not complete but they will not release your results until the file is complete.
Hello my fellow Nclex brother and sister's,
I need prayer and hope. I took the Nclex RN on 8/4/08 and have been waiting for my results, I checked on my IP and was very suprised to see a Temporary License was issued on the same day as I tested, I called the BON, hoping that the temporary license was issued out to me because there was possibly a hold on my account so they had issued me a Temporary License instead??? The BON said that it was not me and someone with the exact name including the middle name was issued a temporary license and it was not me. So I asked if they know what the results of my Nclex, and they stated I had not been processed yet and that it could take from 3-31 days from the date you tested....
How do I know if I passed or failed?? What will I recieve a letter stating I failed or if there is a problem with my file how will I know? and how soon? If anyone knows Please let me know.....I am having a real hard time with this whole situation, and feel as if my life is on hold til I find out the results....Help anyone????
Thank You and God Bless you all!

Well, that kind of sucks. So the only way to start working is to be thrown to the wolves now, or to wait for a new grad program next year?
