How long to get CA NCLEX-RN results?

Published

Did anyone wait longer than 72 hours to get their results on the BRN website? Tomorrow is R-day for me and I'm worried I will wake up and not have the results. Does that mean I failed or the BRN is backed up. if anyone can tell me that would be great!:banghead:

Try to hang in there. When did you graduate? Is it possible that your school hasn't sent your transcripts in yet?

I graduated in my from Virginia in MAY that is. And in Virginia you aren't allowed to test until the board has everything, so I assumed it was like that in CA as well. But, it makes me think California is not that way. Hmm. I may need to call and ask them if my file is complete. It's strange how every state is different.

So you graduated in May and then moved here and then took the test? I'm not sure but I think that if you attended school in another state and then took boards here, it might take a little longer.

So called them and found out that the reason I don't have results yet is because, like i suspected fingerprints. This lady was more helpful then the one i spoke with yesterday and actually took the time out to explain what sending out fingerprints meant. So It does look like I'll be waiting a while. Atleast now I can relax. And breath, knowing why.

Well that's good to hear. How long did they say you had to wait? Just until your fingerprints clear?

She said two weeks up to couple of months. I'm hoping it's more of the 2 weeks. Well the first set I sent in I got the results that they weren't readable pretty fast. Soi here's to hope that these are readable but don't take long to process. So it looks as for the meantime, i'll be needing to find a part time job somewhere.

Yeah hopefully it's only 2 weeks. I remember when I did my fingerprints during school, and it didn't take too long to process (I don't think). Do you have family out here in CA that can help you while you wait, so that you don't have to find a job and then quit as soon as you get your results?

I do but I have studen loans to pay off and other bills. I was planning on having a part time job and full time anyway. So I probably wont have to quit. Plus I need somthing to do these weeks while I wait :sniff:

I know what you mean, I have loans and stuff too. I wanted to get a part time job right after I graduated too, but it wouldv'e only been for like a little over a month then I would have to quit because once I start the new grad program at my job, I won't have time to do both. I think most new grad programs for the first 3 months or so are M-F, well at least all the ones that I know of.

I wanted to do new grad program but I missed all the deadlines. And I heard that you only qualify before you've taken the NCLEX. So I guess I would just be hired on as a nurse and follow a preceptor around for a few weeks and then all by myself it is.

That's kind of odd. I've never heard of someone taking their boards before applying for a job and then not be placed in some sort of new grad program. Technically you're still a new grad and should be treated as such. Hospitals have new grad programs all the time.

i agree with Hypoxic, they should still put you in a new grad program.

I agree. I wish they would. But the spaces are all filled for fall. Next I know that opens is February :(
