Just curious how long have you all been at your current facility. Overall do you like it? Do you see yourself staying there longer?

Specializes in ICU.

I've been at my current facility for 13 years, and almost 1 as an RN. Before that, I was a unit clerk before and during nursing school. So far I'm on my 3rd unit, but wouldn't have left my previous one (NICU) if they'd had an open position when I got my license. I had to take what I could get.

Overall, I like the facility, minus the dog and pony shows that occur periodically. I sort of feel like that's what the surveys are. I also would love to get back to NICU and away from my current unit.

Do I see myself staying here long-term? Probably, for two reasons: We live within 2 hours of most of our family, and I'm vested in the pension plan. On the other hand, my husband would love to move someplace warmer. Either way, we're not moving until I have finished my BSN and fulfilled my commitment to the current place, as they're paying for said BSN. :)

I've been working here four years.

Overall do you like it?
I have never liked any job I've ever had. I have an aversion to work and simply see it as a means to an end, although I have not yet figured out what the end shall be.

Do you see yourself staying there longer?
I have no immediate plans to leave. I'll stay as long as it remains tolerable.
Specializes in Critical care.

33yrs. Critical care. Can't wait to retire, hopefully in February. I am so glad I had the good years of nursing, I absolutely hate it now.

Specializes in medical.

I have been with my present company for seven years. I like having an office job with RN wages. The only down side is I have to commute 60-90 minutes each way.

I plan to stay until I reach full retirement age which is four & half years away.:sarcastic:

Specializes in ICU, psych, corrections.

Yesterday was my 5 year anniversary of being at my current job (outpatient psychiatric medication clinic). I really like my job but it's a 35 min commute each way and a Monday-Friday job that takes me away from my kids/home from 7am to almost 5:30pm and there is no chance for advancement here as far as pay is concerned - I've been stuck at $64k a year for 5 years. But tomorrow is my last day here as I have taken a promotion of sorts. I am transferring to the Nevada Department of Corrections as a Correctional Supervisor. They are both state jobs but this one comes with a $25,000 pay raise, 2 min from home, better schedule and an opportunity to learn supervisory experience. I am planning on staying there at least 3 years as the state takes your highest three years to base your retirement off :-)

Specializes in orthopedic/trauma, Informatics, diabetes.

Short answer: find another job, another facility, heck another specialty if you can.

To answer the question: I'm in a current transition right now because the job I currently hold, I have been there for six months, but have been an exemplary employer that will give me room to advance in the future; however, my previous employer I worked for 4 years-3.5 years as a LPN-and even stayed on during my transitions into RN jobs, which were a little rocky I may add- and enjoyed working there, solely because I helped create polices and the orientation process and the medical emergency plans-mock codes, seizures, etc. and percepted many nurses successfully; I would add that I saw my nurse care be effective; however I have been able to see that in every job I have, so I can tolerate each setting I get into as much as possible, until I want to do something else.

Specializes in geriatrics.

Almost 4 years at my last facility and three months at my new job. I plan on staying with my current role at least 2 years.

15 months and counting!!!, I love my job and plan on staying there as long as possible.
