How I passed NCLEX 1st time in 75 questions

Nursing Students NCLEX

Here is a little background information on myself so you can see where I was coming from. I got my LPN license January of 2011 and went straight back for my RN and graduated in December. I didn't have money for a review course like Kaplan so I just ordered some books. My advisor talked to me before I finished school and said, "You aren't taking a review course? I think that is a VERY bad idea!" Obviously this scared me (I hadnt had OB or Peds since summer 2010 as part of my LPN program) I was lucky that I had a job lined up too but that really just added more pressure to pass. None the less I couldn't afford it so my only options were the books.Saunders 5th Edition - Great content book! Questions are pretty good to make sure you are retaining the information you read but are not NCLEX type questions. (Finished 75% of the book and was getting 80% average on the questions by the end of it, started in the 70s) Exam Cram - another great book. this book is only questions (I didn't use the CD). Questions are sooooo important and will help prepare you. I only averaged 65% in this book.Lacharity is an absolute must.. My worst score in here was 45% my average was 70% my highest was 90%... Trust me! Do all 18 chapters! Don't worry about doing the case studies.I also used the allnurses review floating around on here which was helpful as well!I gained something from all of these resources. There isn't one I used that was a waste of time. I did the PVT immediately, got the good pop up, got my license number 2 days after.Pharm (which I took in Spring 2010) was hard for me in school so it scared me the most. Most of the pharm stuff I studied was from Saunders but if I saw a drug anywhere I didn't recognize I would look it up.The day of I didn't feel ready so I think that's normal. Hope this info helps someone out there! Don't forget to pray pray pray!!!

Can anyone tell me the best book to cram pharm. I took the class but I am not 100% I am all ready for the nclex because of pharm. That was a rough class and it just seems like I didnt learn enough. There are so many medications I just want to be sure. I see that alot of ppl are saying they had alot of SATA and Pharm questions and that makes me extremly nervous. I dont graduate until April so I have plenty of time to study I just make sure that I study now before it is too late. Any help will be great. Books that were helpful, online sites. Anything!

Thanks for your story. I am going to order Saunder Comp Review and LaCharity this week. I hope I pass w/ 75 question like you. Congrats!!
