I need a 75% overall grade to pass the class.
Exams are worth 75% of my grade, 25% for hw.
I have an average of a 77.8 in exams so far in the class and I am going to give myself a 50% in hw, because I have not received anything back yet and I figured I would low ball it.
My final exam I have not taken yet, but what would I need on the final in order to pass the class with an overall 75%?

Need to know all your exam grades to calculate. But with a failing homework grade your current final grade is ~70%
(3x exam avg) + (homework avg) /4 = final average
79.4, 72.0, 84.0, 83.8

Is each test weighted the same? What about the final? How much is the homework worth? Our final usually counts for more than other tests.
no the final is the same. it will be based off of 77Q. what ever you get on the final will factor into your total score with your exam grades.
Hw is worth 25% of your grade. The problem is, my prof has yet to return anything to us, so I am going to assume a 50% on hw since I do not have a grade for that.

(Test avg) * 0.75 + (homework avg) * 0.25= total grade
Hope this helps (:

If you say that you anticipate to only 50% of the points on homework then you need a 97.47% on the final
Each test is worth 15% of your grade (.75/5) and homework is 25%
79.4* .15= 11.91
72*.15= 10.8
84*.15=12.6
83.8*.15=12.57
total for tests= 47.88
Homework= 50*.25= 12.5
47.88+12.5=60.38 so far
75-60.38= 14.62 points needed for final
14.62/ .15= 97.47% on the final

Since the math has already been laid out for you, my question is why are you giving yourself a 50% for the homework? This is very low, even for underestimating. Do you feel you did poorly on the homework and that you only earned 50% of the credit? Did you miss assignments? If you know you did the homework well and completed it on time, you should be able to determine a rough estimate of your actual points.

You can always go to www.conquercollege.com ; put in all your grades and the percentage that they are worth. The calculator will figure it all out for you. Once you get your homework grades that it.
