I been trying to fill up my database since day 1. I got them done on time but some of these students were compliant at the time. Now it's been a while and I gotten these kids all on the system but some are missing some info and I haven't gotten it. I been calling and calling, some of them say they will do it as soon as possible but then I got some that say that I already asked for that and I was sent the record, but I don't have it.
I'm just not sure how to get them to cooperate and how to be assertive enough to them to understand that their kid can't be in school until I get that record. What methods do you use? And what can I do if nothing works?

I decide to go the extra mile and call the afternoon delinquents today to say "provide or you're gonna have to pick up." I even give ideas to the people that gave me the "oh, we don't have an appointment" excuse of places they can go THAT morning to rectify the situation. One being the health dept on the cheap. My delinquents didn't show up for school. Did they expect me to pick them up and drive them?

And this is what I'll be dealing with starting Tuesday. Fortunately I just need to fill in the letters with students name and ID number and what shots they need and send them home. They'll have 30 days only.
i don't let them start without the right paperwork. sorry - no shots, no school. No iou's either, because someday never comes. If they're are already there, send a letter with a hard deadline and then Kick them out.
This is what I do. My secretary calls me the Shot Nazi because of being strict. But if your not,you will NEVER get them.

I would send home a letter giving them a date (decided on by you and your admin) for a dead line. After that date, they can NOT return to school until documentation is provided showing that they are up to date on their immunizations. I have had to do this a few times with students that are on a Make-Up schedule and parents ignored my first two or 3 reminders that shots were due. It usually works because parents don't want to keep their kids at home.

I sent 3 notices home in December for a student...reminder, you exemption expires 1/1/17, Johnny MUST have his shot before then to come back to school. They had all Christmas break, no shot. Came back 1/5, sent right back home. Amazing how quickly they got that shot yesterday. I'll just never understand it.
My state is switching from a ridiculously long "provisional period" to 5 days from the start of school for shots to be complete or a dated vaccination schedule signed by the physician to be submitted. It's going to be awful at first, but I like the 5 day idea much better!
