Hi,
I have a classmate who I get the feeling doesn't like me and I'm not sure way. I try to rise above it but the only thing is she is friends with my friends so not do I only have class and labs with her everyday, I eat lunch with her, go on walk breaks with her, all because we are with the entire group of friends that we share.
I asked if I could partner with her and another classmate one day, and she was just like "yeah, sure" and didn't look at me. She ignored me and then when I asked if we could use the teacher's dual stethescope for BP so we could listen at the same time, she said no, I just want to do it by myself. Really? Especially since are test will use the teacher's BP. I tried adding her on facebook but she didn't accept so I canceled it. When we are in groups she never talks to me directly, when we were doing critiques of our videos between the 6 of us, she gave everyone positive comments verbally, and stayed mum when it came to me.
I have tried to be nice, and I tried to rise above it all so I gave her a postiive comment that I like about her video. I'm too old for this, I"m a second degree student. Is this highschool all over again. I hated high school. I feel like I should confront her and discuss it, but I've never done that before. Or should I continue to ignore it and just let it go?
I wouldn't confront her or ask her about it. I would forget it. I had a similar situation with a classmate. We were FB friends, all that crap, then I discovered she not only deleted me but she blocked me as well. The only thing that bothered me about it was wondering why she went to the extreme of blocking me. But really, I don't care. Since then, I've found that she is a horrible and repulsive person.
I'm not sure if I would call it rudeness straight out but pointedly ignoring someone IS rude. Also, those who said she's being polite and pleasant? It just doesn't sound like it to me.
Seriously, who cares what she thinks? She might have an attitude problem, or be intimidated by you, or she might just not care to be friends with you. It doesn't matter either way. You're not there to impress her, or please her. She has no bearing on your life.
I had the same issue a year or so back, and the funny thing is, when I made it clear I didn't care, she got even more aloof and snooty. Some people's kids, eh?
Sometimes, I'm so happy I'm not a girl.
I can see this situation between two dudes.
Guy 1: "HEY, WHAT THE *** IS YOUR PROBLEM?"
Guy 2: "Dude, you suck. Get away from me."
Guy 1: "You gotta problem with me? Do we need to take this outside, bro?"
Guy 2: "Let's go, chump."

& this is why i love my boys.. they are so awesome and so simple & drama free (for the most part)
A little side track here, but I find it funny that some have mentioned that the reason for her coldness is because she is jealous of the OP. Kind of a funny assumption, no? I generally like or at least don't dislike most people I come into contact with, but that ones I have were for many other reasons besides jealousy. Anything including obnoxious behavior, overbearing neediness, poor hygiene, the feeling of being used or alterior motives for friendship, immature or dramatic behavior and beyond could all rub me the wrong way. Not saying that the OP is any of things, but isn't it a little presumptious of "us" to assume that the only reason someone may not like us is because "we" are better than "them"? You know, all of us has some kind of less-desirable trait(s). I think for most of us, we find friends and allies who are kind enough to see past that, but for others, it's just not their cup of tea and would rather avoid us for that reason. As long as that is the worst that they do (avoid) I would say the action is mutually beneficial :)
