How can i prepare to take the NCLEX RN a 3rd time?

Published

Well i failed my NCLEX the second time...had all 265 questions. I am confused as to how to study to pass this test the 3rd time. I got my evaluation back from the BON and it said i was "Near the passing standard" on all categories! Why can't it be more specific. How am i supposed to study when all categories were near the passing standard...does that mean i was on the line the whole time and just didnt go above the line? I am confused right now and getting frustrated with trying to study for a 3rd time. I feel like a loser and failure for having to take it a 3rd time when all my friends passed on the first try. Plus my school has a good passing rate and is a great nursing school...i feel like i have let everyone down. Any advice? I want to try suzannes plan but i have to go buy a new book...i only have saunders 3rd edition. :(Stressed!!!

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks for all the support! I really love this site!

If you have failed for the second time surely it is worth paying for the 4th edition and do Suzanne's plan, that is the only cost so well worth the money I think. Sorry to hear you failed though

The cost of the new Saunder's book is still less than other options. Otherwise, I believe Suzanne's Plan is free. Whatever method you choose though, study as though you have not taken the test before. Good luck. ((( HUGS )))

Near passing means that you did not have one section that was above the minimal level that they require. That is what it comes down to. There is no way to tell you anything further as to how you did on the exam.

But the fact remains that you are going to prepare for a new exam that will not have any of the same questions that you had before. I always recommend preparing as if you have never tested since whatever you did just did not work for you.

What did you actually use to prepare for these two exams? And how did you use it?

You can get thru this exam and that is what is important. Also, how long did you wait between tests before writing the second exam? Did you give yourself adequate time to prepare?

Hi Mellee...

I just found out I failed the test for the second time as well. I'm extremely disappointed to say the least. I had even landed my dream job at NICU after being interviewed by 15 staff members and 2 managers. I am definitely trying Suzanne's plan this 3rd time around since I've read so much about it. Keep your head up, we'll be alright :nuke:

Hi Rc i will try suzzanes plan too ..gudluck to all of us!

this is my 3rd attempt too

Hey mellee. It's really ok, I took the test twice too and failed then I passed third time. =) Do Suzanne's Plan, that's all I did in order to pass. Hang in there and keep trying! You'll make it just put in the effort and stay positive no matter how hard it may seem things will get better you'll see. :nurse:

Can someone tell me how to get the Suzanne's Plan?? I have taken the nclex two times now and I haven't been able to pass it!! I'm very desperate can someone help me please???

I just learned that I failed the NCLEX a second time too. I feel your frustration about the letter, it is very vague. I had one area below the standard and the rest were near the standard but nothing was above the standard...what a bummer. The first time it shut off mid way and the second time I timed out.

It sound like most of us replying are interested in Suzanne's plan. I figure at this point I have nothing to lose...except my NCLEX fees-Ouch! Keep you head up and continue to study!

I just found out that I failed the second time too and I am also preparing for the third time. So don't feel sooo bad. The computer also shut off at 75 both times when I wrote it.

I have read a lot of good stuff on Suzanne's Plan so I think I am going to do it for my third attempt....you know what they say....third time's a charm!!!
