Hey I'm new to this site, and was just curious how Nova's nursing program is. I just got accepted into the Fall 2010 nursing program at the main campus in Davie. Any advice on how it is? Did you feel prepared when you took your NCLEX after completing the 27 month program? Would love to hear from anybody. I'm so excited and cant wait to start in august! :)
to those of you who have gotten accepted..I'm still waiting for my school schedule..as of now I haven't registered into any classes..should I be worried? :/ another thing..for those of you going to DAVIE campus can you give me some type of example of what our school schedule will be like? are they all the same for davie students or do they vary? I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do about work..I'm a bartender so my job is pretty flexible but I need to let them know what days I can work now..so i'm desperately waiting to see what schedule for school looks like! :) any info is as always appreciated :)
Linda, I am registered at Kendall so I'm not sure about davie campus. But I wouldn't worry if I were you. Looks like you were accepted very late into the process so they need more time ro process everything. As for the schedule be prepared to get up 8:00am three days out the week but there is an hour and half or more between classes. You should be fine. I was in the same situation as you until I saw that my schedule works with my current schedule. Even if it doesn't this takes more priority over your job. Good luck. Keep checking your email and webstar in case they need more information from you.
Hey everyone, Lindlove the hold probably means that since you are so new that you may have some things missing on the advisement side or that your financial status is still being updated, that happened to one of my friends, she needed to send him an official transcript again saying that she was not taking the classes she registered for in the summer. Hope this helped.. its no biggie because on orientation they will give us our schedule but i know that ALL of us want to be ahead of the game.
Also, i just was taken out as an out of state student last week, supposedly its a glitch in the system.. but check your financial status on webstar and it should reflect on there soon. You will see the difference right off the bat. Also, my lab coat order is still in process, i called the bookstore and they said the labcoats take awhile since they are sent to another third party for the patches... I ordered mine August 4th so imagine.. thank god i ordered it early because by orientation i will be picking it up already. Even though at orientation you are going to be able to try on scrubs and the lab coat but imagine how many ppl will be doing that and i just want to have everything ready and not worry about small stuff like uniforms or lab coats.... Its going to be crazy at orientation so imagine waiting in line to see what size you are... headache i want to avoid!!! As far as books i am iffy about ordering... i want to make sure i have the right one... atleast the right edition. But like i said i rather be done with it all and just worry about school and not the extras. Look how long the lab coat order is taking....imagine everything else. I am going now to see about the scrubs since i already have one from Nova i can wing it with the other stores.
Hope this info helped.... we are almost there you guys!!! Super excited to start and nervous all at the same time... is anyone else confused about the lab?? I see that we have it in different buildings and different times, etc. But anyways, are we going to meet up at orientation....??? I still dont know what to wear... i dont want to be sweating and in heels... NO WAY!!! I m debating between capri's and a business casual light shirt? Girls are so complicated, guys have it easier lol... as far as shoes im debating against wedges or flats... but i dont want to spend money on something im only going to wear once...
Also for the watches there are new G Shocks that came out that one of nursing friends just bought.. super nice.... its plastic all around so its easy to clean and nothing will get stuck in between u know what i mean... and its analog and digital so its easy to read... she said that while she was in nursing school since we need the second hand watch the analog and digital was the best way because its faster and easier to read.... just a pointer for all of you out there.. I have techno and she was like NO WAY lol they cost too much to damage because you will be using it for EVERYTHING even the gross stuff we will be exposed to for instance wound care lol... she says to be careful on expensive watches.. it will wear and tear... as far as schedules i already received mine via email on sharklink but i am going to be in the kendall campus and the scholars program so i dunno if that has something to do with it or not but i know i have to wake up early one class starts at 8.. ahhhhhh... well hope all this information helped out somehow i will keep you posted on other stuff as it comes my way. We are amost there guys!! YAY!!!!!!!!
this may seem out of place...but does nova have a bsn program in orlando? i know they have a campus there . i have most of my pre-reqs done from valencia community college..i have been accepted into the rn program to start summer 2011..im still looking at my options tho... currently sit a a 3.3 GPA..anyone know how the applicant pool looks?

Baptist does pay for tuition but thats it they do not give you extra money, you have to figure that out on your own, since today was my official last day of work i have to prioritize and organize myself on money expenses, i should be fine because i just received my loans officially... but remember that baptist only covers certain things.... i am still iffy about the books i am scared to start ordering them lol maybe now since i have time i can look into it more. We are almost at orientation!!!!! Still undecisive on what to wear, by the way my lab coat is still processing so its a process that takes awhile...... GRRRRRR i just want to have everthing ready.... i dont want to scramble either.
