Hey I'm new to this site, and was just curious how Nova's nursing program is. I just got accepted into the Fall 2010 nursing program at the main campus in Davie. Any advice on how it is? Did you feel prepared when you took your NCLEX after completing the 27 month program? Would love to hear from anybody. I'm so excited and cant wait to start in august! :)
Hello,
I'm a student in NSU's joint medical program and I just wanted to say hi to all of you guys in the BSN program. I'm here to extend a welcome from the Nova Community and I wanted to say if you need help or have a question feel free to PM me. I'm a research assistant as well in the HPD and if you're interested in research feel free to ask. The first semester is always a tough and interesting one. Enjoy it, because once you get past the second semester, it's like trying to drink from a fire hose.
Best of luck,
Future CT Doc
Hi Futuredoc,
Thank you for the welcome!!! I am super excited to be starting the BSN program at Nova. What exactly does a research asisstant do at the HPD? (I know research but, a little more in depth LOL) Im intrested in getting involved around campus. Another quick question, do you think its possible to work while in any HPD program? I am for now going to reduce my 40 hr week to a 6 hr week, I was able to convince my boss If I see that 6 hrs a week is way too much then ill quit. But, I want to keep atleast some income coming in as long as possible.
Hope to see you at Nova! :)

A research assistant can do a lot of things, my work is on a novel angiotensin receptor. People work on a lot of different ones, it depends on the faculty members interest. I do more bench/basic science work, although there is clinical research going on. I know people who do work, I'm guessing you're pre-nursing at this point, so you can the first year and potentially during didactics. However, I would choose a job where I could study. PM if you have any more questions.
That seems like a very interesting career choice, you really have to like research:) Actually, in order to start the Nursing Program at Nova you already have to have all your pre reqs- done because at Nova you start taking the Nursing core classes and clinical.
Thank you for taking your time to respond.
you know I was just thinking that maybe we could all meet up on orientation day right in front of the terry building..where the tall clock is..do you guys know which one i'm talking about? since we need to be there by 8ish and on the orientation schedule it says that there will be a mini breakfast, maybe we can all meet up by the clock and head into orientation together :)
