How is the BSN entry level program at Nova Southeastern University?

Hey I'm new to this site, and was just curious how Nova's nursing program is. I just got accepted into the Fall 2010 nursing program at the main campus in Davie. Any advice on how it is? Did you feel prepared when you took your NCLEX after completing the 27 month program? Would love to hear from anybody. I'm so excited and cant wait to start in august! :)

hello everyone!!! my last day of work is friday so my full attention will be at school and baptist scholars, i received a letter today from nova advising me of all the monies i have been granted or should i say loan.... grrrrr..... i am going to look into uniforms next week since i already have one from nova... i have to hem all the pants, and my lab coat is in the process of getting the patch stitched on. ugh such a mission.. i think i am going to wait till orientation for the books.. what do you guys think? zdream and i were talking about it and maybe we are safer waiting.... i am still debating what to wear lol all i know is comfy shoes... i think meeting in front of the terry building is fine with me.... the broward mall is too far me i live all the way down in kendall and i will be attending the kendall campus for some classes... if anyone lives down over here maybe we can set something up. i am excited 3 weeks to go! i have no idea what to expect but all i know is for the next 27 months its total dedication to this program... so many ppl want to get in and we are in and i dont want to take it for granted.... at work so many nurses from other universities cant find jobs or pre nursing students want jobs in the hospital to get experience and its just really hard... thank god we are in already and we can do it... class of 2012!!![/color :clpty:

Jerziana, I went ahead and ordered some of the books off Amazon.com. They had the best prices. I only ordered the Netter atlas and the math books. It came up to $140. I found an international edition of the A&P book on eBay for $63. I was a little hesitant but the seller guaranteed that it was the exact same content word for word as the US version. I didn't want to be scrambling at the last minute ordering books. I hope this info helps.

Hi guys,

Congrats to everyone. I have an idea of how you all feel. I live close to Nova's main campus and yesterday I went by for a tour ( I will apply for their fall 2011 term). Anyway, I was so excited to see the pictures of all the previous nursing students. Well, as I decided to see an advisor. I was crushed to see that my dream of going to Nova may not come true. He told me that I have a great GPA 3.60; however, I have a W for anatomy 1. Eventhough, I retook it and got an A he stated that could affect my chances. So, my question is has anyone been accepted with a W or a repeat? I'm going to send and email to ****, the nursing coordinator to get an opinion from her.

just wondering, why do you have loans doesn't baptist cover all of you tuition plus a few hundreds left over?

@kristou- I went through the same exact thing. I had a w from a previous a&p course but not bc I was failing. I went back to that teacher and explained the situation (science teachers are all on ur side when it comes to going to any medical school- they eat it up) and had him write me a nice reference letter. I also got EVERY doctor, nurse, employer, etc to write letters on my behalf and I wrote an essay entailing why I deserve to be a Nove shark. I sent it in a big packet with my application And I guess they saw how committed I was. Good luck! Hope this helps, it never hurts to go above and beyond.

kristou- also, I had the dean of my college write a letter. I feel like Nova is so exclusive and selective that they definately want the best of the best and I showed them how determined I was. They saw my drive and that's what they want. You got it!

Thank you so much Nicole. I feel like you made my day. I will get a letter from the whole school. LOL. I will go above and beyond. I am going to sign up for PTK (phi theta kappa) and the Pre-med club. I think i will also go and volonteer at Memorial hospital. THank you.
