Hey I'm new to this site, and was just curious how Nova's nursing program is. I just got accepted into the Fall 2010 nursing program at the main campus in Davie. Any advice on how it is? Did you feel prepared when you took your NCLEX after completing the 27 month program? Would love to hear from anybody. I'm so excited and cant wait to start in august! :)
hey everyone! I just checked my nova email account and theres an orientation bbq going on this wednesday from 5 to 9! I think this would be an awesome chance for all of us to meet up and mingle! Are any of you guys interested in going? Its only for HDP students... let me know! Maybe we can set something up
Hii! I saw that I'm registered for classes!! But I saw there were 2 classes that start on August 23? Does anyone else see this?
Also, I'm still listed as an Out-State student!! UGH. I've been calling, leaving messages, emailing and I've gotten nothing so far!! This is so frustrating. Is this happening to anyone else? I know someone said it was a glitch but its been a week now.
hi ! i know exactly how you feel....I have been freaking out since the moment i found out i was in. Im still quite lost on the book and scrubs issue, i was going to buy the scrubs today but i was wondering if i need to engrave something on the or if its just on the lab coat ? lol This site has been extremely helpful since Nova is a little lost. All i do is leave voice mails and e-mails and wait for them...but i never get a call or if i actually do they dont give me a straight answer... well i hope you are as excited as i am lol Nova here we come !
well my schedule has finally been posted. i also have some classes that supposedly begin on August 23rd..I emailed the person in charge of registration to this if this is accurate or not. According to the email i received for orientation we are not supposed to start face to face classes until august 31st...the day after orientation..but I'm not one hundred percent sure of this so I emailed her to make sure this is the case. Also, I'm still registered as out of state student..my financial aid awards still haven't been established either..I submitted all my paperwork last Wednesday.so maybe this will take a week or so to finish up..the person at the quick stop shop told me it takes about two weeks or so to get a financial aid award package set up..since I was admitted so late into the summer I'm assuming it will take some time for me..do any of you guys have any advice for the financial aid process? do you guys remember how long it took for your awards..and loans to be set up? also, I'm a florida bright futures recipient..and none of that has shown up either on my account..the only thing I'm worried about at this point is my financial aid how much longer is this going to take ?
Hi there ! well i have heard the same about the watches. Its not a good idea to buy an expensive one since it will be expose to fluids and other things during the program. Anyways i noticed you said you are going to the kendall campus ? how come? i got in for the Fort Lauderdale campus (main) and i also go the Baptist Scholars but i was informed during my contract signing that we dont start going to the kendall campus until the second semester... ???
@yaimas: There is a list of the books we need to get on the orientation page Ft. Lauderdale/Kendall Entry Level Nursing Program Orientation Information
and as for scrubs, we have to buy them online The Official NSU Uniform Provider because our top needs to be embroidered with our name and nova. I just bought a top and a bottom and gonna bring the top to a uniform store to see if I can find the same colored scrubs with embroidery for cheaper lol Also, our lab coats we need to online because it needs to be embroidered as well.
I'm definitely going up to Nova tomorrow to clear things out. It's sooo annoying. I turned in all my Florida residency form and documents on August 3rd and I'm still out-state! ughh. I'm also a Bright Futures Scholarship recipient and it hasn't shown up on my account either and neither have my loans :/ So much stuff to clear up with only 2 weeks left!!!
I feel your pain girl! Well I received an email back from the person in charge of our registration. She told me that the academic term begins on the 23rd but that our classes on campus begin on the 31st..after orientation. So at least that clears that up..let me know how it goes for you at nova tomorrow...I know that tuition is due 30 days after the term begins but I want all of this financial stuff settled before I begin..I ordered three tops of scrubs about two weeks ago..I had them shipped to my home but I'm still waiting for them to get here...also I ordered my coat last week...it'll probably get here in a two weeks or so..supposedly we don't need the scrubs until the second semester..but our lab coat we need by the first semester..i wonder if we can wear our scrubs if we have them though..
Did anyone upload their immuzations under magnus health portal?? Mine still says pending approval and on certified bacground my status says my order isnt complete until my immuzations has been uploaded..My other frnds say that there status shows tht their order is complete...So idk why mine still says tht...Does nyone else have this problem???
Hi there,
I am applying for next fall; however, I am so worried. I work full time and this is how I support myself. I just moved back in with my parents in order to try to save money. I also have a car payment. I am trying to hard to pay my car off as much as possible. So here is my question. We all know that Nova is expensive and that we cannot work during the program. How do you plan on supporting yourself for the 27 months? Is there anything extra you wish you would have done before school started? Right now, I work full time and go to school full time. I will graduate with my AA this december; although I have a good job, I think I still want a part time job on the weekends before I start nursing school.
Hello everyone, the immunizations will not say complete until orientation from what my advisor has told me.. i uploaded mine in June and it still says the same thing so i wouldnt worry since our tuition pays for our immunizations, thats why we need to bring in our paperwork for orientation because if we completed everything then it gets shaven off from our tuition now if we need another dose of lets say Hep or tetorifice then Nova will provide you with the missing immunizations, also we have until Nov. 30th to have everything on file and completed.
As far as the schedule, I am accepted into the Scholars program and was registered to the Kendall campus.. the coordinator for the kendall campus advised me that we only go to Davie for the cadaver class which is the anatomy class.. all other classes are held in Kendall... our Second semester it will be held at Baptist... hope this info helped.. the information packet is a little outdated that baptist gave us... but no worries i am pretty sure everything will get cleared up at orientation... i also going to get my top engraved at another uniform store and bring in the I ordered from Nova to see if they can match it.
My lab coat says shipping in process STILL after 3 weeks... takes forever, thank god i ordered it early... Also i was the one that stated that it was a glitch in the system for the out of state, mine was fixed 2 weeks ago... i just think they are taking forever as usual to get things done... i saw the drastic change in pricing.... thats how i knew so i guess wait because they know you are an instate student just by your FAFSA alone is a clue you know what i mean... remember that nova is all over the place.... and we have to be on top of our stuff.
I didnt receive the BBQ email... =( lol but we need to meet.... as far as working i just stopped working last week, with my job it was not recommended and i am now fully dedicated to school and scholars.... but i know the money is always an issue, i have never been without working but i rather suffer and sacrifice a paycheck rather than sacrificing a career and be in a hole. You only get one chance! I am looking for jobs that pay you cash and some odd jobs that i can do around my schedule, like tutoring, etc. Maybe you could look into that as well.
Our face to face starts Tuesday the 31st, nursing is different from other divisions.. i dont know why we start so late but we do, so no worries about that... im still confused on our labs though??? Different buildings it will be in and times? So weird, i bet orientation is going to be chaos.... try getting your scrubs asap because they say you can try them on there but imagine how many ppl are going to be doing that! No way i rather save myself the stress and headache! And i plan to wear my scrubs asap..... i am not happy about the business casual at all lol... Also the watches theyre are new baby Gs and G shocks so look into those if anything, i am going to do that this week as well... .Hope all this info helped... and as far as the financial aid package it takes a little bit but i wouldnt worry especially if you got into the program late in the game.
We are almost there!!!! AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH the fun begins!!!
