How to become a nurse in Singapore?

World Registration

Hi guys any kababayan here who successfully landed in Singapore as a RN? Please share your experience on how to go with the process...This country is getting us poorer...

Hi!

I am really confused. During my interview they said based on their evaluation they will hire me 1st as enrolled nurse then evaluate after few months if they can upgrade me to staff nurse. Is it possible? By the way, I graduated BSN (4 years), with work experience for almost 3 years but stopped for 10 years. I updated by enrolling in a masters program major in Advanced Adult Health Nursing from the Univ. of the Phil. and earned 18 units. I finished my major subjects AAHN, Oncology and Cardiovascular Nursing with a grade of 1.25, 1.75 and 2.0 My lowest is 2.0 which is equivalent to 85 to 87. Also finished elective and core subjects with good grades.

With these record, thus it mean if they sponsored me for EN in SNB, I don't really have a chance of becoming RN? By the way, I am permanent resident of Sg.

You're explanation is quiet clear and I understand what you mean but what confused me is the info. I am getting from this forum and the experience I had during my interview telling me that they can upgrade it based on my performance.

Thanks. Hope to hear from you guys!

No, as the reason that they are going there as an EN is the fact that they do not have the required experience as an RN in their home country, or where they are licensed.

If they are going to be working as an EN, then that does not count as RN experience. Same thing in any other country as well. Working as the EN does not count as RN experience and will not meet any requirements for that.

Sorry, but to do to school for four years and have a BSN and then to only be able to work in that role makes no sense to me and especially when it will not count as work experience for any other country down the line later on.

From what an agency here in manila explained to me. A hospital/employer hires you as an enrolled nurse first, it doesn't matter if you're a registered nurse in the Phils, because they have their own board of nursing, the Singapore nursing board. To be able to take the SNB you have to have an employer in SG, at least three years work experience. Once you pass the exams then you can call yourself a Singapore RN. $1,100 is the average rate that the agencies offer here as well.

Hi there... I would just like to ask, if you apply to become an enrolled nurse, do you still need to have 2 years experience? Thanks.

NOPE... Try to search the web forums regarding the topic and your queries and you will find the supporting answer.

Chel, thanks for the info...I sure will look on it.

A year of experience from a 100-1250 bed capacity tertiary hospital will do.

Ok... How about trainings (nurse training in a tertiary hospital), do you have any idea if they consider this as an experience? Thanks.

Specializes in Emergency/Trauma.

I am an currently working in the US. My nurse education was in the UK where I worked as a nurse for 6 years prior to coming to the US - I have been here for 13 years.

My experience is vast 20 years as an RN, 18 of those years primarily in Emergency/Trauma setting - however I have worked occupational health, flight nurse and on a cruise ship for 10 months.

I am a highly skilled nurse and currently studying my RN - BSN - MSN degree.

I would like to work in Singapore. How do I go about doing this?

It seems most advertisements are for Philippine Nationals or Singaporean Residents. Does this mean they do not hire US/UK nurses at all?

I do have 2 passports (Dual Nationality) US and UK .

Can anyone advise?

Thanks so much.

I'm sure prospected hospitals will consider your profile. Just wondering, why do you want to work here in Singapore? Have you learned about how much nurses are earning here?

Specializes in Emergency/Trauma.

Probably not very much! Just a great location to work, close to all my friends in Asia. What is the process? Just send my CV to a bunch of hospitals there?

Location is one thing but you also have to consider a lot of things like comparing the working environment here and abroad, the stress that is so much of a task to handle, the so-many rules that causes unhappiness to nurses etc. Well, if you really are interested to work here after weighing the pros and cons, I think you may just submit your curriculum vitae and other qualifications and wait for their reply. Good luck!!!

Hi,

My sister is a registered nurse in India with specialization in cardio-thoracic nursing. She wants to work in Singapore as RN. Is there any organization or employer who she can contact for help? What are the requirements for the same? Would greatly appreciate any help.

With Regards,
