Hi guys!

I was just wondering, if an RN from the Philippines comes to Singapore to work as an EN, can she take the Singapore board exams for RNs after, let's say a year of working?

Thanks!

No, as they would not have the experience as an RN. Working as an EN or LPN does not count as RN experience. This is the point that we have been trying to make.

Forgot to write that I have 2½ years of experience. Mainly oncology and I'm licensed to give chemotherapy. Hope that you have some input!

You will need to contact them directly. It also goes by the number of years of your program and the type of degree that you were issued, or certification from your actual nursing school.

Oh...so if she works as an EN in Singapore, she has no hopes of becoming an RN there?

Thanks again Ms. Suzanne..

No, as the reason that they are going there as an EN is the fact that they do not have the required experience as an RN in their home country, or where they are licensed.

If they are going to be working as an EN, then that does not count as RN experience. Same thing in any other country as well. Working as the EN does not count as RN experience and will not meet any requirements for that.

Sorry, but to do to school for four years and have a BSN and then to only be able to work in that role makes no sense to me and especially when it will not count as work experience for any other country down the line later on.

Hi there! I am interested in working in Singapore as a nurse since retrogression is active. Can you give me some details on application and I heard that they are requiring placement fee. Is it advisable to directly apply in Singapore hospitals? Thanks!:nurse:

I used to work in Singapore general hospital and Singapore national heart center as staff nurse and as a matter of fact some of my batch mates still there working as a staff nurse.

There is an agency in Manila accepting applicants for Singapore/Malaysia hosp. Send me pm if you guys out there are really interested, you may want to give theme a call.

Do you actually hold a local license as well as two years of paid experience as an RN? If not, then Singapore will not do a thing with your application.

They will not accept anyone without these basics.

Hi to my fellow nurses. Can you please help me? I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines, with less than 2 years of experience. Is it possible I can take a Singapore board exam for RN? Or lets say I will directly go to Singapore to take the RN exam even though i do have less than 2 years of experience? Help...

If the country requires 2 years experience or more then the likelihood of them accepting less to be would be high

Hi there my fellow nurses. It's been awhile since I last posted here. I have been reading the thread from the first page until I decided or I feel like I really want to react to this thread.

I'm currently working here in Singapore.

And just to let you all know, if you happened to be an EN in the first place that you came here for work, you can also be an RN after you finished your 2 years of contract.

And you may be asking me further how is it going to happen? You can approach your respective nurse manager if you really wanted to take the exam required to take for you to be upgraded as an RN.

To became an RN in Singapore? It is an option. It can be achieved.so please let us help each other. If you know something that is really happening here in SG, please share it.

I was upset because the question here really is how to get in SG right?

Why is it that I even read one reply about maids? We are professionals here?

Am I the only one here feeling the thought that somebody here is referring Filipinos to just go and leave the country to become a maid?

Filipinos have more of themselves than doing domestic jobs, please.

I think the topic and the point jumped!

The question repeatedly being asked is how to work as a nurse in Singapore. Many of the nurses making posts have not written the NLE nor do they have any work experience.

To get hired as the EN, it requires a full year of work experience before they will consider one for licensure. And a full two years of work experience to be considered for the RN license. Singapore does not permit one to write their licensing exams without the experience.

Working as a nursing asst or care-giver will not give one current experience as a nurse and this is what is at issue as well.

Having a four year degree and not being able to work as a licensed professional, is not what someone should aspire to. You are only selling yourself short if you do that.

And this is why so many of us are against what is being done to the nurses from the Philippines. It makes me quite angry when I see people willing to work well beneath what their training was just to get taken advantage of, and that is never something that any nurse should settle for. Unfortunately, your country continues to sign these agreements for the nurses to be sent to other countries, not as nurses; but working in a class less than that.

May we ask what category that you are actually working in right now in Singapore? And what your current salary is for that job?

Thanks for the output. I think what you are asking isn't that necessary but, I'm an enrolled nurse here earning what an s pass holder should earn. That's all and if there is anything wrong with that just tell me and let me know.
