Houston Residencies Summer 2019!!

Published

Can you believe applications have started opening up? Anyway, just an early start for everyone to discuss.

I'm planning on applying to Harris Health, Memorial Hermann, Methodist, & TCH, and I will be applying to multiple locations for each. I'm trying to decide if I should branch out and apply at some places out of state or not since I want a very demanding specialty, but I'm not necessarily ready to uproot my family just for my residency. I'm open to suggestions or thoughts from others who have been through this part of the experience already.

Oh and my recruiter didn’t mention recommendations or my resume but then again my application was internal, I doubt if it gives me a better chance just maybe a different process or it could just be how Memorial city does things

My first choice was MH Memorial City and I received the behavioral assessment yesterday and a an email from the recruiter this morning. Did anybody take the assessment and feel like a complete dummy ? I think I thought to hard I barely answered any questions for the general reasoning section

I didn't answer very many either... I wish we had a rough idea of how many past applicants answered! Just to see what's acceptable

I didn't get asked for the additional information either. Just the questions and the behavioral assessment.

Nope, I got thru it pretty easily. I even checked a couple answers over.

That's great! I wish I could say the same! Do you remember how many total questions there were?

I think there were 30

I received the email from MH Southwest (OR) on yesterday to complete the questionnaire and attach resume. I just received the invitation from Methodist Baytown for the pre-screening. I have an Associates

^ The same thing happened to me as well! I think it does take time. I’m thinking they move applications from the general job ID to the specific location you applied for.

I think they’ve only done it so far for the TMC/Children’s location because Greater Heights was my second choice and I haven’t gotten any updates from them.

Yes they did the same to me; I now have an application for the particular location that I listed as my choice. Only one of them so Im guessing Im not being considered for the other location

May I ask who informed you about the TMC ADN situation? I had already submitted my application and then I saw on this forum that TMC doesn't accept ADN grads. I applied to MH Children's.

I have been communicating with a recruiter since before the app opened. It also says on the application which locations accept ADN's TMC and children's do not hire ADN and if you applied to those locations you wont have a chance to choose other locations.

Thank you for the info!

So for the MH questionnaire, did you guys put the unit you wanted to interview for in the questionnaire document or just in the email. I didn't see where it was supposed to be listed, and I don't want to do it incorrectly. Thank you!
