Houston Residencies Summer 2019!!

Published

Can you believe applications have started opening up? Anyway, just an early start for everyone to discuss.

I'm planning on applying to Harris Health, Memorial Hermann, Methodist, & TCH, and I will be applying to multiple locations for each. I'm trying to decide if I should branch out and apply at some places out of state or not since I want a very demanding specialty, but I'm not necessarily ready to uproot my family just for my residency. I'm open to suggestions or thoughts from others who have been through this part of the experience already.

Is there a deadline to receive the babavioral assessment for memorial hermann? Anyone know?

I finally heard back from CHI St. Luke! They sent a packet to fill out. They said their interview day is on April 9th, and they start making offers April 15th-26th.

Did your application status change before you got the packet. Mine hasn’t

The same thing happened with my "New Grad RN - Residency Program" application, but I have another one for "New Grad RN - TMC Campus - Summer 2019" that says Application Received. I had applied for residency at TMC and their Southeast location. Maybe it takes time to update profiles for each location?

I couldn’t apply to TMC because I am an ADN grad. I emailed the recruiter about why u wasn’t considered, it’s because my gpa is 2.9 but my rebtention is over a 3.0 Idk what they look for

Edit: the assessment is due by March 1 so most likely shortly before then!

Thank you so much. I wonder if different locations do things differently. I didn’t receive the questionnaire. I don’t know if that means I’m a no?

I think they do things differently. Mine was was MH Children's.

The email I received with the behavioral assessment link stated it must be completed with 48-72 hours so I don't think there's an actual date, it's just 48-72 hours after you've received the email. The email with the questionnaire stated all documents need to be received by March 3rd but I'm not sure all locations are requiring those.

May I ask who informed you about the TMC ADN situation? I had already submitted my application and then I saw on this forum that TMC doesn't accept ADN grads. I applied to MH Children's.

My status changed to “applicant transferred to similar position” before getting the packet.

It was stated on the page for the Residency where it listed what units were hiring.

I noticed some of them mentioned "BSN preferred" but I didn't think that meant ADN's couldn't apply. Well thanks! They accepted my app so guess I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Quick question to all,

So, I applied to MH southeast but haven’t seen my application status change. It still says received so has anybody else heard from this location or have all the emails for MH locations been sent out.

Thanks for everyone’s responses.

My first choice was MH Memorial City and I received the behavioral assessment yesterday and a an email from the recruiter this morning. Did anybody take the assessment and feel like a complete dummy ? I think I thought to hard I barely answered any questions for the general reasoning section
