Hospital vs Hotel

Specializes in floor to ICU.

Check out the intro add for this hospital in the medical center in Houston. And we wonder why patient's expect "hotel-type" service... gimme a break! I hope those nurses only have 2 patients so they have time to pass out slippers and fluff pillows.

Looks like a nice place to be a guest, but I wouldn't want to work there.:clown:

What can ya say. Those poor nurses. Makes ya wonder if they will be trading in their scrubs for french maid uniforms.

Specializes in Emergency Room.

It almost seems like a joke. They can't be serious.. a guy with a big chefs hat delivering meals on a cart with a flower! Slippers with the hospital monogram? PUHLEASE. And did you notice the patient didn't have any thing like a chest tube or even an IV that would distract from the beauty of the room? I like reality.. that is NOT reality.

I would never work there. When will hospitals get that medical care is not the same thing as going to a spa?

I surely don't go to a spa to get poked, prodded and woken up at 5am for labs.

"Whether you are a patient or a family member you are our special guest and our University College concierges are always at your service"

Hmm....:smiletea:

Well actually they didn't mention nurses, just their "excellent physicians." Maybe this is the hospital all the tv shows are based on, you know the ones where the residents are at your bedside 24 hours a day? That was probably a resident setting the tray with slippers on the bed!

Specializes in DD, Geriatrics, Neuro.

I kept waiting for the engergizer bunny....I know, I'm bad. The ONLY place I saw nurses mentioned, was the employment page. Which incidentally has a huge list of openings. All of which require 2 years experience.

Specializes in Tele, ICU, ER.

#1. I didn't notice any of my 15-family-yelling-in-the-halls-type folks. I didn't see any homeless folks or medicaid patients (do they get robes n slippers?).

#2. As the lovely ad played, I kept seeing the hospital logo blinking above the advertisement video - anyone else notice it says UGH? Telling, no?

and this is exactly the reason why some patients thinks being in a hospital is like being in a hotel room...FULL SERVICE!!!!!! Beautiful hospital (to be a patient) but it scares me to think of working there....

Specializes in Pediatric Pulmonology and Allergy.

I'd love to see what their ER looks like... if they even have an ER.

Specializes in geriatric, hospice, med/surg.

You have GOT to be kidding me! Yeah, seems like a good "spoof" for a Saturday Night Live ad for hospitals! Bwwwaaaaaahhhhhaaaa!
