Hello all, I am just back from NCLEX testing and all I can say is what tourture. I don't know how others waited when it took weeks to find out the results. The test stopped at 75. I don't remember what the last question was. I was told by a Kaplan if it is a who should the nurse see first questions it is a good indicator of passing?
The test itself was not bad it was what I expected. Nothing I can do now but wait and pray and cruise the boards here.
Prioritizing both which patient you'd see or which action you'd do first. If you got a question that asked you to put them in order it was an "alternate" question and wouldn't count toward your final score. When you guys talk about prioritizing questions do you mean you have to give the order in which you would do a procedure, or just picking which thing you would do first or which patient you would see first?Swtooth
...if I remember correctly :)

Last I heard all alternate questions were in (as in, they actually counted) starting in April of this year.
My Kaplan instructor said that there would be 15 alternate-type questions and they would NOT count...Hmmmm...
My class was told this prior to graduation from out program director. I swear it's a different story from everyone I talk to.
Anywho, if I'm given multiple multiples I won't pass. I always think I need to have at least three checked and that there's no way I can only leave one unchecked.
What is stressful about the alternative questions, is that you really have no clue what question counts or what doesn't, so, seeing them places people under a great deal of stress. I had about 7 in a row of 'pick all that apply'. I heard on one of the threads here in allnurses that one person got about 20 of them. Sort of hard to decide whether or not all 20 of them counted or even 10. If they are counting, now, then, my empathy goes out to the new test takers going in this year.
Every NCLEX has 15 questions that are being evaluated for use on future exams. You are actually scored on 60 questions if you get 75. This does not and never has meant that the select all that apply or other types of alternate item questions are the ones being sampled. I had 15-20 select all that apply in July 06 and some of them counted. Lippincott has a great book for reviewing alternate format questions!!!!!!!!!!!!
