Hillsborough Community College - Spring 2014

Published

Hello all,

I wanted to start a thread for those applying to HCC's Spring 2014 nursing program. I am a stay at home mom. I know its early but I wanted to get as much info as possible. The deadline isn't until 6/1. I'm a current HCC student. My pre-req GPA is 3.57 (all A's 1 B and 1 C ), I'm hoping that this is good enough to get me a spot in the program.

What is everyone elses GPA? I heard its lower for the Spring.

I dropped off my acceptance letter and got finger printed in Ybor earlier. I really hope i get placed at Southshore or Plant City. DM is a pain to get to. but on the bright side, at least it is done.

Delta- the forwarding can take a week or two. i would definitely try to figure out a way to find out if you got accepted before you get it. everything has to be done by the 15th so you could be stuck with only a day or to get your stuff done.

the backround check doesnt need to be done by the 15th. it just needs to be done before orientation in November but i would get it done asap.

I bet that was fun FX. What were they practicing, do you remember by any chance?

They were working on bedside care/patient assessments while i was there. They actually had a live patient to do a full assessment on and they were doing other things at another station. I didn't want to over stay my welcome so i didn't stay long.

Yeah. I e-mailed Health Sciences today asking about my letter, and was told (in not so many words) to hold on and chill out until the end of the week. If I hadn't received anything by then, to let them know and they would figure something out.

In other words, suck it up and deal with it until then you impatient idiot (I originally did not write idiot but decided against it).

So we'll see...

I think they do campus assignments based on GPA, The higher your GPA the better your chances of getting your 1st choice campus assignments. My favorite campus is by far South Shore but its not an option for me since im doing nights/weekends and that will be at DM in the Spring. Ohh well.. I will learn to deal with the DM traffic since its going to be my second home for the next 2 years.

That's what I understood too, is that your campus assignment is pooled by GPA with the individuals that accept or are admitted as alternates.

Dale Mabry is my home campus and where I've taken most of my credits. However, I lived in Tampa at the time and now its a royal pain to get too. But, I'll probably be moving back to Tampa (ugh) if I get nights and weekends.

She's in Orlando so she said she didn't either

I'm hoping for nights and weekends since my hubby needs to babysit:-) But I'm not worried,I'm sure I'll get it

Hi all, just got home and got my letter, but unfortunately I was denied. They miscalculated my gpa to be a 3.3 but I have. 3.57... I'm super upset!!

I'm sorry Hallberry. Are you planning on appealing? I would try and at least make a case for your GPA. Hang in there.
