If you are a HEALTH CARE worker then you know the dangers going in. Do what you want but you are not very good at your job if you want to flee when there could be danger. We are there to help those in need, imo, you are selfish and need not be in health care if your first instinct isnt to stay. get your family out or bring them to the hospital with you. People like OP are in it for the money, plain and simple. If you truly care about what you do as an RN, Dr. etc. then you wouldnt be TRYING to run. you would be trying to stay. I say all this as someone that sent my wife north a few days ago and without hesitation stayed to work through the storm here in Florida. if the medical field in the worst of times isnt for you, then you need to find another career.

you need to tell the new job that offered you icu position. they probably arent looking to train someone who will then turn around and take at least 3 months off. Its pretty selfish on your part to even think that would be ok. to dump the extra responsibility on the unit of having to cover for 3 months that you are brand new to isnt ok either. Stay at your current job until you can make a real commitment to the new job. they cant fire you for being pregnant but they also dont have to hire you either. its pretty shady to hide it to secure a position.

Birkenstock or Dansko anything else isnt great longterm.

med/surg at the beginning of your career will make you a BETTER nurse. sometimes in life, its not about what you WANT as much as what you NEED. the people ive worked with on specialty units that have never worked med/surg are lost and flustered when they got floated to us. i can promise you, you will be a better nurse starting out in med/surg than a specialty. if you just want to do what you want to do, go to wound care to start, but if you want to be the best nurse you can be go with the option that exposes you to all aspects of healthcare, not just wounds. (btw, there is tons of wound care done on med/surg floors).

OP, you were wildly inappropriate and your nursing career will be very very short if you continue to act like you did here. you are wrong. there is no excuse for escalating this higher than the initial conversation. you sound whiny and not much of a team player i.e. someone i would never want to work with in any capacity. i have no advice other than to be a better nurse next time.

also, it says campus assignments are final and for the duration of the program. i would assume it will be hard or impossible to change locations.

hey, i got my assignment today and got Southshore. It was my top pick so im super happy. I do know that not everyone got theirs today.

my other check also cleared today. also, im definitely going with paper books. i really dont like reading on a screen.

i dropped it off at the Health Sciences dropbox on monday.

They cashed my $38 check. Im still waiting for the $50 check to go through but its good to know they got my acceptance letter.

thats cool. Ill just wait till i get sent the proper forms. Im not saying that your immunization forms arent legit but im not taking any chances, whatsoever, when it comes to this program. They will give us everything we need. There isnt really any point in jumping ahead in steps in the process. Got to crawl before you walk.
