  1. Hi everyone, just a reminder you Cant register until second day of orientation when they give you the code you need to register. Also for those of you in NP1 nights I would love to meet you all, so when you guys are in the evening skills lab look for me! ~Rosaly
  2. I noticed lol you guys are lucky. I know you'll get them soon:-)
  3. They should explain this all in orientation but what we were told is we take the classes in the summer. I already have all my prereqs done so I'm not sure how it would work for those who don't but I can imagine it doesn't matter. Again, I'm sure they will explain all this to you at orientacion. Hopefully you get campus assignments soon, we didn't get ours til two days before orientation!
  4. Hey there:-) I saw your question so it's 15 skills lab hours per semester or about 1 per week, it's not too bad. Also some exciting news it was announced today officially that starting after you finish your first semester at HCC in nurisng you can start taking USFS BSN classes online!! I know we are very excited as next summer we will be able to knock out a few classes before we graduate.
  5. lmbo yes I forgot, they make an announcment at orientation everyone that wants to switvh goes to a certain part of the auditorium and switches.
  6. hey guys just wanted to congratulate you all, I'm happy you all made it in! I love hearing when people get accepted, its very exciting. about the uniform you go to hcc's nursing page under current students and there they have the nursing uniform handbook. our uniform has stayed the same the past few semesters, white scrub top, port wine bottoms, HCC nursing patch sewn on left shoulder, and white shoes. supplies are a penlight, bandage scissors, watch with hands, and most important a stethoscope. I can't stress how important this is espscially your first semester when most of what your doing is physical assessments. you need a good stethoscope to listen to the heart and lung sounds on the manniquins in lab and on your patients in clinical. the littman se 2 classic is a great choice. it will be recommended to you by nurses and staff alike. double lumen stethoscopes are not recommended because it is very hard to hear with them which is not good when you need to pick up subtle sounds like ronchi. they will go through a lot of this at orientation but its good to be prepared beforehand. the book package is about $600 with a coupon you get at orientation and the supplemental books are another $300,some are required some are not. there of are a lot of concepts that are hard to understand so supplemental books are a big help. I think that covers what you need to know right now, hope you all get the campus of your choice, if not you can always switch with someone else that wants to at orientation!
  7. You give them your financial aid award letter and when the school deposits your financial aid refund they withdraw the package money. It's very convenient.
  8. The BSN program has been mentioned at the past few orientations. Its not happening for any of our classes, I doubt it will happen for another few years.
  9. hey again! the red barn near dale mabry has the nursing books availabable NOW if your interested. unlike hcc all you have to do is show your award letter and you instantly have your books. on ly downside is they may have a waiting list since this is a popular and cheaper spot to get the book package. I did it last semester and got the last one available and it was two days after orientation.
  10. that's awesome congrats, keep us updated on yourfirst semester when you start
  11. hey girl everything good, starting to study again getting ready to kick semester 2's butt. lol you excited you start soon?
  12. hi there, you are 100% correct. Although it is a popular belief, spring cutoff is not lower, the applicants just tend to be less. but there are semesters like the one where I applied that there was a very largegroup of applicants which is why we received ourletters so late, almost in october. 3.7 is almost always theguaranteed accepted gpa cutoff and anything below is that is really dependent on how many apply, how many accept seats, etc. anything below 3.5 is abig gamble and at that point applicants should definitely consider other options.
  13. The CPR class is ok as long as it's from the American Heart Association and it's for healthcare providers.
  14. Sorry about that, I had an issue with my nook please feel free to PM me. Also Leroy the question about campuses also pm me. Thanks
  15. Hi Leroy, i had a 4.0 going in. Depending on your professor the care plan may count towards homework points, our did others don't. C is 80-84 B is 85-91 A is 91-100. Most points are from tests, only some are from homework.
