Hillsborough Community College Spring 2009

Published

I am an alternate for HCC Dale Mabry campus. I am not yet in the program. This is my third time as an alternate, so; I don't want to be too optimistic. I found out that starting last week the school was going to be notifying alternates if they have a spring 2009 seat. I am wondering if anyone has heard that they are in yet. I am very nervous, and I would appreciate any information. Thank you

hi Starfish, thanks for responding. When I asked 'how did you find it?', I meant how was your experience. You pretty much answered that. regarding health assessment class, it is only offered in the am and I believe it may be just for transitional LPN students. I always thought tht health assessment was offernd within Nursing Process 1 so I don't think that I can register for that class.

oh ok I see, I didnt know that. Honestly take what you can and want this summer, you will get the basics in your first semester and will be able to catch on. I have no medical experience (except for my mother in law who is ALWAYS sick with something) and I am doing fine. I wish you good luck, please feel free to contact me with any further questions!

Soooo! I got in! Yah! I'm so excited! Although I was accepted to Plant City, not Dale Mabry (it says on the app that you may not get first choice), but that's okay, I'll take it! :) Now I just have to take BLS...

I got in tooooo! Only I wanted the Plant City Evening program and it says I have the DM campus....Don't know what I'm going to do..I can't quit work and go to school

Hi guys. Unzie and Drmazur, congratulations. How exciting! I wish you two well. It seems as if they answered right away. Do u guys mind sharing your GPA and if you had any other co-requisites as well? Thanks,

Unzie - too bad I'm not in the night program, we could trade and be set! :) Congratulations to you!

NewGoalRN - my prereq GPA was a 3.45...I didn't get my first choice campus, so I'm not sure what that means. I didn't have any other co-reqs done, just what they require. I do already have a BA and MA, but they don't even look at those.

you all can trade if thats what you want to do (program and campus wise)...on the day of orientation they will ask those who want to trade- usually everyone ends up getting what they want!!! just an FYI

CONGRATS and good luck!

you can switch usually at orientation IF they dont have any openings at Orientation you can switch after the first semester, they always have openings from those who didn't pass/dropped the course. Just make sure to let the director know ASAP!

good luck and congrats!

they go by GPA on the campus choices, best GPA get first choice and so on...

I got in, my GPA was 3.85 and I did not get my first choice but thats cool. I got in thats all that counts.

congrats!

I think that more and more people are applying due to the economy and maybe losing jobs- having a hard time trying to find another (I know some hospitals are on freezes but that wont last forever)...I dont know, that is my opinion- esp. with all the media attention on the healthcare field- I think it will be more and more competitive each semester.

Hello :)

I am so happy to see that there are so many other Fall 2009 applicants here!! I received my acceptance letter for Fall 2009 for the Dale Mabry campus day program today too. I am so excited!! Looking forward to starting our nursing journey together. :nurse: My pre-req GPA was around a 3.6 and I got my first choice.
