Hillsborough Community College Spring 2009

Published

I am an alternate for HCC Dale Mabry campus. I am not yet in the program. This is my third time as an alternate, so; I don't want to be too optimistic. I found out that starting last week the school was going to be notifying alternates if they have a spring 2009 seat. I am wondering if anyone has heard that they are in yet. I am very nervous, and I would appreciate any information. Thank you

Hmm...so it seems that campus choice wasn't based on high vs. low gpa...i'm thinking they were trying to spread out the gpas so that one campus didn't have a higher average than the other.

Congratulations everyone...so exciting!!

Thanks for the encouragement..I really hope I can switch..I maintained a 4.0 GPA to ensure I was one of the ones who had the chance to pick first. I checked the block for the evening program so I don't know what is up. I am super glad to hear you can ask for a transfer! Either that or I'll be looking for a new job! Bad economy to find a job to put you through school through! Oh well, I'm in and happy about that! I'll just have to trust the man upstairs to put me wherever I belong!!

Did anyone with a lower than a 3.3 get in? My friend is hoping to get in, if there is anyone please share I would love to share the info with her and give her some hope. Thanks

maybe they printed all the letters wrong, that's why none of us got the campus we wanted :) doubtful, but it would be a nice solution, huh?

it won't be too bad for me, twice the drive, but i'm sure i can switch after the first semester since people do drop out. But even with the drive, I'm just thrilled I got in!!!

Hello, I'm new to the thread and I am axiously awaiting my letter from HCC. Right now I am a nervous wreck. Does anyone know what the lowest GPA was?

Oh no I'm freaking out! I haven't received my letter yet! What if they tried to mail out all of the accepted people their letters first and the not accepted people will get their letters today? I'm so scared Help me!!!!!!!!!!!11:banghead:

I wouldn't worry about not getting the letter yet. My mail is always late in the afternoon or a day after everyone else's.....slow mail lady I guess. Hope yours is good news when you get it!

Yeah, usually our mailman runs about 1130 or noon so, he should be making his grand entrance soon. I too hope it is good news, even getting accepted as an alternate, i would be grateful for whatever!

Oh, has anyone heard anything yet what the cut off ranges were from highest to lowest and for alternates? I am asking cause I still am waiting! I live in Plant City so I suspect it should come today. They mail the letters from the Dale Mabry campus?

What was your GPA for the Pre-reqs?

Yes, letters are mailed from the DM campus. That is where the orientation is also..Jun 24th and 25th

Well, it came and it was a no! I didn't even make an alternate. It said that my GPA was calculated to be a 2.95. I know what messed me up was I got a "C" in Micro lecture and a "C" in Algebra. Everything else I had A's and B's. I am just simply going to apply one more time for the Spring of next year and well, if that doesn't work I think i might be done with HCC. I can't waste my time and efforts forever you know? I did take the TABE test over at Erwin Tech and passed it and have a 'prospective' nurse meeting in May so, I'll go to that, fill out my paper work and what they do is they take all those who passed the TABE and put it in like a drawing and randomly draw numbers. If they get your number they will select you. They offer three classes, Fall of 2009, March 2010, and August 2010. So, perhaps my luck will come then. I will also try to apply elsewhere for the Spring semesters. I will give HCC one more try but if not, I think I will have to find other ways to fullfill my dreams. Thanks for all of your prayers and encouragement! We'll all get there, it's just the matter of timing.:yeah:
