  1. Nursingbyf8th-My GPA was lower than yours, and I got in. I didn't get in until my third try. With your GPA, you will probably get accepted right away, and if you don't you will at least get an alternate letter, but don't despair, your GPA is high for Alternates. It is just hard waiting longer to hear from them. I have noticed that the fall GPAs are higher then the spring. I think because USF doesn't have fall admissions..??? I think the GPAs went like this for applicants that were accepted into the program at first letter. Spring 2008: 3.13, Fall 2008: 3.21, Spring 2009: 3.16. I got in in Spring 2009 as an alternate, and they said they accepted all alternates with a 3.00 or better. I also had a friend who had a 2.89 and got in Spring 2007. Good luck, and as you can see you don't have to have the 3.7s people scare you into thinking.
  2. I would find out why you missed what you did on the first two tests. You won't have provided rationales, but you will see what types of questions throw you. Most people have a pattern of what is confusing on NCLEX style questions. You need to know if it's that you don't know the content, which it doesn't seem that way, or what is tripping you up.
  3. For people with GPA worries: as long as you have at least a 3.00 I think you will eventually get in. Mine was low, and I got in on my third try. It is frustrating, but don't give up. If you don't get in right away, this is what I recommend (I wish I had done this!!): work as much as possible and pay off as much of your debt as you can ( car, credit cards etc.), and possibly save money, and then when you are in the program your bills will be less. In any spare time, study your anatomy book (yes the one from a&p 1&2) inside and out. Know everything. New Goal Rn- I am in the day program, but it is the same, two 3 hour lecture times, and a ten hour clinical. So regarding working: our professors do not recommend anymore then twenty hours a week. I know people who are working 40+ and have an 'a', and I know people who don't work at all, and still seem confused in class. I think it just depends on if you are the kind of person who needs to work full time, and likes to go out, and can't focus on homework when they get home from work, then yeah you should work 2 days a week. It does seem like everyone mentions that they want to work less. Most of us work 20-30.
  4. I am surprised to learn that you can re-take any classes. Well, I know you can retake classes, but I didn't think that they were considered. I have been told they strictly take the first grade, and as long as you get at least a 'c' it's a done deal. It makes sense that a dean or appeals committee might be able to help in some way. Well I am in now, and I couldn't be happier. I want to go in there and be one of the best students, and be able to say " yeah, well I was a three time rejected alternate, and proud of it!"
  5. Yay!!! I found out today I have a seat!!!!!! I am hysterically happy.:heartbeat
  6. I got in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:heartbeat
  7. Sorry NGRN, I see that you already advised someone regarding The three classes you mentioned as not being required. I do want to take the three classes. I might check out the openings on December 17th. I think that is when they drop people based on non-payment. I still have the tiniest hope to get in. This is my third time. I have a 'C' in one class, and because there are so few pre-reqs, it really affects my GPA.
  8. Actually our letters state that the lowest gpa accepted was a 3.166. Sadly, yes my gpa is a tiny smidge below. I have not completed the three courses you have listed. I don't believe I need them for HCC. I already have a BA in English from USF, so I have done, to my understanding; all the classes I need to graduate with the ADN from HCC. I do want to take those three classes, as they are required by USF, and I know I eventually do want to receive a BS in nursing. Actually, If I don't get a seat this time I really wanted to take those three classes this spring, but they are all full besides DEP PSY. I am very sad; this is possibly my third rejection.
  9. I am an alternate for HCC Dale Mabry campus. I am not yet in the program. This is my third time as an alternate, so; I don't want to be too optimistic. I found out that starting last week the school was going to be notifying alternates if they have a spring 2009 seat. I am wondering if anyone has heard that they are in yet. I am very nervous, and I would appreciate any information. Thank you
