I am an alternate for HCC Dale Mabry campus. I am not yet in the program. This is my third time as an alternate, so; I don't want to be too optimistic. I found out that starting last week the school was going to be notifying alternates if they have a spring 2009 seat. I am wondering if anyone has heard that they are in yet. I am very nervous, and I would appreciate any information. Thank you

Hello there. I actually got accepted for the spring 2009 semester. We had orientation earlier in the month and considering it was mandatory it didn't look like all the spots were filled. It seems like people must have declined the acceptance letter.
I bet you have a good chance of getting into the program. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!:nuke:

Hi Everyone I have just finished my pre-reqs and worried terribly about getting into the program. I have heard people saying that just the super GPAs are getting in. Can anyone starting od in the program give an idea of the gpa for their group and what about a waiting list...Is there any? Thanks
Hello! There is no waiting list for the nursing program. If you do not get accepted you have to re-apply for the next session. My GPA was 3.6 however some fellow students in orientation had GPA's as low as 3.2. I think it depends on each session though.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
Purplestang that info was helpful I was hearing crazy stories of people having a 4.0 and not getting in because of space. I guess that was all false, I have a GPA of 3.8 so I guess if they have space I have a chance of getting in. Do you remember how long it took for a reply and do they give you a choice of campuses/ Thanks in Advance.
I got in with a 3.8- you should not have ANY issues getting in- just make sure all your paperwork is in order i.e. your application...keep following up to make sure! they got mine then had problems with transcripts.
You'll do just fine, do you plan on applying for august 2009? I have a neighbor that is applying for that term! good luck!
If you really want to begin the program like I said in a previous post I also applied to PHCC ( I dont know if that interests you or not- just an idea- there is also St Pete College as well)

I applied by the cut-off date of June 1st and I received my acceptance letter the end of August. It seemed like forever though. On the application you can choose which campus you want to apply to. It seemed pretty flexible though. Even if you pick a campus during orientation it is pretty easy to switch. Lots of students were switching around.
If you have a 3.8 - you are a 'shoe-in'. I went to an advisor right before I was going to turn my applicaton in just to make sure they had everything they needed. That way you won't be surprised. When I went the advisor looked at my GPA (which was only a 3.6) and said 'oh, you are in for sure'.
Good Luck! I am so anxious to start myself:)
Starfish1 thanks for the info. I did speak to someone at SPC and they flat out told me I had no chance of getting in, as they gave preference to residents of St.Pete and they had alot of applicants. When you got in did you get to choose the campus you wanted to attend or were you just handed a spot a specific location and were you already a student there( you said you had problems with the transcript) I am following your advice on PHCC I will look into that just in case ......Thanks again
