Hello all HCC Fall 2011 hopefuls! I have been following the Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 threads and thought maybe it was time to start Fall 2011 now that the application process has started.

I just turned my application in this past week and received my confirmation notice in the mail. Anyone else out there that has turned in their application?

What are your plans over the next 8 months to prepare for the first semester (provided we get in)?

In regards to financial aid it all depends on when all the paperwork was submitted. I have had times where my loans were not disbursed until 2 months after school started. I am still freaking out a little because I havent' gotten my award letter, and I really don't want to go and get a defferement letter.

UGH... They still haven't issued me an award letter. And Kikilynn they told me that since it'll be my first loan with them... It won't be issued until Sept 31 :eek: WHy the hold up IDK. I would seriously hope that the late disbursement isn't a pattern of the school.

All first-time borrowers have to wait a little longer for their loan to be dispersed. My guess is because it's your first time, they take a little longer processing everything. But once it's all established, they probably just tack on more to your account for future loans? Don't worry though, it's not just you...I had to go through it too this summer. :)

I hate financial aid, every semester I worry about having to do a defferment, and it looks like it will be happening again

i was offered a slot for plant city daytime the monday after orientation. I had a C in algebra and a B in english from PSU, i thought i was going to take a higher math and wait another year. I have orientation august 4th. Imagine being told you didnt get in and then getting a phone call from the nursing dept. after orientation and they tell you they have a vacant slot and ask you if you want it. I was VERY HAPPY. Anyone interested in carpooling from tampa to plant city? I dont have a car and it would be cheaper to just pay for gas than to buy a car.

Well went over to financial aid to try and get a defferment, that did not go well :-( they have still not processed the degree audit/appeal, so still showing on financial aid suspension,they have lost my loan application so don't even have that on file.So looks like I am going to have to pay for my classes up front :-(

Are you serious? Couldn't you have just done another loan application? They told me when I was there that with the loan application, my classes would already be deferred until whenever funds are available... OMG Now I'm worried... I'm going over there tomorrow morning. Cheese on bread....

That is what I said to them, if you guys lost my loan application don't you think I should do another one, just in case it isn't found. It was all a mess, because I had originally gone to dale mabry to do my degree audit and turned in the application. I was told I need to start going to southshore because that is my home campus. So I went to Southshore yesterday and they basically told me that only dale mabry could help. It doesn't make sense, but now I know I am going to have to do another application which will just take more time.

I am pretty sure if you have already filled out the fafsfa paperwork, the only thing you have to do is go in there and if you don't qualify for grants, they will give you an application for a stafford loan. there are other papers you have to sign as well, but you can just do that in the financial aid office. I suggest if you do it though, get on it as soon as possible, because it can take forever. Be sure if you do apply you ask them about the promissary note, the "not pell eligible " paper work and your student acknowledment. That should be all the paperwork I believe

Thanks, the thing is I'm eligible for financial aid, but I dn't have enough money for room and board.
