Had a kid present with eye irritation & redness x3 days. He thought it might be a wood chip. Nope, it was a deer tick embedded in his eye, just lateral of the pupil. Sent to the opthamologist that day for extraction.

Gotta love those zebras.

That'll teach him to look that close at a deer!
:yeah:

I know it's the nurse in me but coooooool! (and oh gross!)

I also loved the story about the man with over a hundred deer ticks on him and it looked like a rash!

I know I've missed ticks on my dog until they're swollen up with blood and pretty big, looks like some sort of skin tag or growth...till you see the itty bitty legs and the wiggle when you poke them.

Man I wish I worked in the ER you guys get all the good stuff!:lol2:

:barf01: I haven't heard of anything that gross since that episode of Monsters Inside Me featured a guy who discovers that what he thought were capillaries in his eyes were actually little wriggling worms. He happened to notice the movement while looking in the mirror one day.

in that same vein...

had a man come in who had been working under his home, renovating - very very old home. Came in with "rash" - turned out there were WELL over 100 ticks all over him. So small they appeared as freckles, until closer inspection revealed these freckles had legs that were wiggling....
