Nursing Students LPN-RN

I am in pasadena city college RN program. I am flipping out because most of my friends failed 3rd semester and i barely passed. It was really difficult. Then for added scare, my instructor tells me if i was struggling in 3rd semester.... then in fourth i wont last two weeks. The 4th semester will start in August 28 and i am just going crazy. They added on this new test that is similar to the NCLEX and you must pass with a certain score or fail the program. i have 5 tests: Neuro, respiratory, hemo-dynamics, cardio, and leadership and then the final. I need any sort of information. And to anyone that has taken the 4th semester in pasadena, please any kind of suggestion is helpful.

My advice to you is to just do your best.Because your friends failed doesn't mean you will.Life is what you make it.Good luck

I am sorry to say I did not attend PCC but have a suggestion for you. Can you find someone in the previous class & get them to tutor you for an hour a week? One hour of their time can be very valuable to you & can't cost too much. This might be time & money well spent. Best wishes

You have come a long way..just do your best and keep going. Have faith in your abilities. There is light at the end of the tunnel. I will pray for you.

it sounds like the test you must take to pass is like ours, a HESI, which is an idicator for the NCLEX. we have to score 850 or we dont graduate.

Do you have a mentor.. a student who went thru the same program who could help you?

I'm in the same boat - 4th semester, with a ton of paperwork and projects to do (community service project, teach 1st/2nd semester students a nursing skill, major careplan project), plus clinicals, preceptorship and synthesis class. I passed my 3rd semester classes, but barely passed one of them, and studied my butt off for that one.

YOU CAN DO IT! You're you, not everyone else (I know of 3 people who failed the class I barely passed). Seek out the nursing tutor in your school, plus get into a study group, that helps a lot. Don't be afraid to ask questions, and go to your favorite instructor to ask for help; you're paying them for that anyway!

Good luck, and remember, you can sprint toward the finish or you can crawl - the choice is up to you!

Hi, I'm just finished PCC first semester. Did you pass 4th semester?

Any advice?

THanks

I'm in wi and can tell you that 4th semester theory was the worst! Other students disagreed and thought 3rd was the worst. Don't listen to anyone else! I hate that when instructors tell you how you'll fail miserabley if yada yada yada...... All you can do is your best. Take a deep breath and go into it knowing that you're going to do your best and that it will be fine. Good luck

MY thoughts are with you...I"m in the same boat...Class of 09 RN

This post is from August 2006. Optimus1 graduated and passed the RN boards many moons ago!

God brought you thus far...he won't fail you!

Breathe deeply and pace yourself.

Study often knowing that it will all be over soon.

Believe in yourself.

You'll make a great nurse!
