  1. It sounds like a great idea to start up a small clinic offering those services some day. There is a great need for this type of service, and you'll surely never get bored. From my experience, if you become a Nurse Practitioner with a specialty in Women's Health - you'll definitely be qualified for this type of field. You don't necessarily need to "hire" or "work for" an MD as others have mentioned because NP's can easily call the shots on their own and are usually trained very well to handle many situations, espcially in the specialty you are aiming for. You could very well do so, hire an MD if you chose to, but it has nothing to do with the success of your clinic. It's just a preference. All the best in your future endeavors, it sounds awesome to me! :)
  2. Chiss - we'll be JUST fine! Do you know when we should receive our letters? I've been hearing different things. One in April...and one in March. I'm sure it's bound to come sometime around then though. Hope to see ya soon at TVCC!!:)
  3. LG - I'll be at the Kaufman location. I believe Palestine is where they have the LVN program. El Centro's nursing department staff are not the friendliest people at all. I've had numerous interactions with them that pulled me away from considering going there for nursing school. However, I've taken other classes there like chemistry, micro, and pharmacology and had some really great instructors. So I would never say the whole school has issues, but I will say that I haven't heard many good things about the nursing department as a whole. Feel free to send me an email or private message anytime! It's great chatting with you & who knows, we may be working side by side one of these days!
  4. Thank you! I will definitely post the news once I receive my letter. I'm excited. I'm also transferring from DCCCD so don't worry about that! I heard good things about Brookhaven's program and have a friend that is currently in the nursing program there. She mentioned that the instructors are very supportive and helpful and that it's a good environment to learn in. I would definitely apply there too if I were you. El Centro...well...I haven't heard many great things actually, and I know some people who ar in that program as well. I'm sure you'll be fine whereever you are! Keep me posted if you can about your acceptance as well! Take care!
  5. Just curious to know if anyone on allnurses.com has applied to TVCC in Kaufman? I'm guessing theres a long wait until the letters go out and thought we could form a mini support group! lol. Also, if there is anyone on here that has gone through the program or have any knowledge about TVCC nursing, such as do/did you like the program, instructors, clinical/clincal sites, & the quality of education. Please post here, Thanks! Hope to hear from you all soon.
  6. It's hard to change your biological clock from what it is used to. You may just need to invest in some really dark curtains to keep the sun out in your bedroom and make yourself sleep at a certain time everyday. Eventually, you being tired from work at night is going to cause you to get some sleep during the day! Trust me!!
  7. I think you said it just right - keep your mind, and especially your HEART on your ultimate goal, and you will be just fine! Many people have done it already and just know that you can too. I think the main thing to is believe in yourself and know that you can acheive all things. Even though nursing school is a lot of work and demanding, please remember to make time for R&R. Rest and recovery is so important! You've made it this far mom35, you'll do great to the end! All the best and God bless!
  8. Congrats mom35! I knew you would get in! Worrying is such a waste of time, glad you can relax a little and prepare for your future ahead. As for me, I'm currently taking classes at El Centro, but will not be applying to their program. I'm applying to other schools for various reasons. However, I hope for you all the best in your program as well as everyone else who applied! To all of those that didn't get in...don't give up! PLEASE don't! It's not because you are not competent...it's that there are not many teachers to teach so the slots are few. It will happen for you...believe, have faith, and P.U.S.H!! I love this community...let's keep supporting each other and bringing in all the postive energy and prayers for one another. Take care!
  9. mom35...haven't heard from you today...did you get your letter??
  10. Trek, congrats on your acceptance to Brookhaven's program! You'll probably be much happier~ I've heard so many good things about the porgram and the support of their instructors. Also...100% pass rate on NCLEX...you can't beat that! mom35...I'm sure yours will come today. Please post your good news b/c I'm sure you'll get in!
  11. No letter for me yet, either. I'm sure it will come tomorrow. I hope everyone posts their results so we can cheer each other on! One more day folks...stay positive and keep the FAITH!
  12. That's right! I've left the rest to God a long time ago. Thanks for the encouragement.
  13. I applied to El Centro/Northlake as well. I really don't have any preferences on whether or not it is El Centro or Northlake...but it would be nice to be at El Centro to just ride the train there instead of driving in crazy traffic all the time!! Either way, I know it will work out! The letters are supposed to come by April 15th, but I made my mind up to get it either the 17th or the 18th! That way, I don't have to go crazy waiting on my acceptance letter.
  14. I think that you are making a wise decision by considering the LVN to sustain your family. Once you are a "nurse" the door is always open to easily further your education online, through work (which will pay for you) and through universities/community colleges. If I were in your place, I'd consider the same thing. Keep your head up, everything will work out for the good....

CONGRATULATIONS!!! 2 years from now, I will be praising God when I pass the NCLEX as well!! Glad that you have it over with and I wish you well in your career paths, wherever you decide to go!
