How many hours of clinicals do traditional nursing schools offer?
Hi loops, Traditional school clinical hours can range anywhere from 1800-2000 hrs. I have done 1800 hrs so far at a community college, I have one semester left. Lilly

Los Angeles Southwest College
Hello, My advise is to not go to Southwest college. Area has nothing to do with it. Very poor clinical Experience- You learn nothing in clinicals; you just stand around - you have no choice because hospitals in LA don't really want SW students to do much. I think the school remains open..because students are desperate to get into any college. These people will do whatever it takes to graduate ..they will take any job not really aiming for the hospital jobs. Most seniors that I know who graduated since 2008 are not working ..mostly nursing homes etc. A few are still looking for employment in the nursing field. If you go to Southwest college..be prepared to study on your own. I was a student at southwest college..after my second semester I decided this was a waste of my time. I was not even able to get a job as a student nurse or CNA aid. I was competing with El Camino, harbor students. So I waited my turn on the wating list to get accepted to a decent school and left to start a BSN program. I know some of you are anxious, but its better to wait to a get into a reputable program. Where you know you will get to reap the rewards of your hard work. I think its easier to graduate with a school like Los angles southwest college..you might get a diploma , but passing the boards and getting a job is another thing. Recently, their passing rate has improved..keep in mind not a lot of students are sitting for the boards..only maybe 10 compared to let;s say el camino who sent 90-100 sudents. So Please don't go by that. Good luck and God Bless.

Has anyone here gone through MSMC ADN program in LA?
Reputation, program, clinical affiliates, instructors are all excellent.. Mount has a good pass rate also. If you can pay the high tution cost you will enjoy the Mount. good luck

Mount Saint Mary's College??
Mount has a good program. Program is very tough ..as it should be. Keep in mind the program is very expensive- I think its not worth it for the cost when you can get the same education and become a nurse at a community college or state university for a fraction of the cost. Good Luck
