what is EBL?

Enquiry based learning.

Have you tried googling 'Enquiry based learning'.It comes up with quite a few sites.Maybe these would give you some ideas.

used to be evidence based learning, cant help as it might not be what you are loking for.

She means you need to take a personal experence and reflect on it -I would sugest using a felection modle such as johns or gibbs -hope this helps

Now I hated using Johns, I felt it was far too prescriptive and really struggled with it. I suppose it comes down to personal preferance.

I much prefered Gibbs

You need to have a look around and find a model that suits you, have a look in your library as well for some books about reflection and reflective learning I liked Gary Rolfe, I think his book is called Critical Reflection for Nursing and the Helping professionals.

I.

then you would have hated Carper.. on which Johns is based!! we had to use Carper when i did my nurse practitioner degree... anything is easier than Carper!

it is down to personal preferance. I like Johns because he gives you key questions to answer. which works well for me!! most uni's I have had contact with seem to use Johns or Gibbs.

I used Bev Taylor, technical, practical and emancipatory reflection for my NP degree, took some getting used to

I suppose to the OP it's about finding a system and model of reflection that suits your style. I used to think about a clinical situation and then reflect on it using the different models. That way you can find which one suits you

I just worked and learned as I went along from the staff nurses and clinical tutors! :D

I use reflective practice everyday, as all good nurses do without even realising it, but I didn't & don't have to deal with all this "shiny bum" rubbish following models etc!

Reflective practice to me is questioning if I could have dealt with a situation better or improved anything I did on a shift, or if something went wrong asking myself if I could have done it better or not and acting upon my personal findings.

:yeah: :yeah: :yeah:

although if I tell my tutor that I don't want to use her "shiny bum" model I'm not sure I'll get a pass for my dissertation :D

I'm with RGN1 on this.I never did come to grips with the different models, probably because we didn't use them in training.I sit and write ,then read ,then rewrite until I am satified with what I have written.
