UGH! I am 7 weeks pregnant and am sick sick sick.:o :o I work in an acute care rehab and feel like I simply cannot make it. I have other kids and am needing help taking care of them at certain times of the day. I am really nauseous at night and dont sleep well. I go to the doctor on 12/7 and will tell him about my dilemma and hopefully he will give me Zofran.

I know this is not my jobs problem. I work part time. They do have a flex pool option available. You have to work so many weekends and you basically are there if they need you. I really want to call my DON and talk to her about changing. I just feel so guilty and weak for not being about to stick it out. I have 3 other children and never felt like this before.

Do you think it a bad idea?

If you're pregnant, how you feel physically is beyond your control. You don't need to feel guilty.

I hope everything works out for you. :)

IF the N+V you are experiencing is interfering with your ability to provide routine care to yourself and your children, you clearly can not be expected to work on top of it!

Please don't wait until Dec. 7 to discuss this with your doctor. Call the office and request a prompt visit.

Until you are feeling better, work will have to wait.

Take care!

Call MD now. You could be losing valuable electrolytes and/or become dehydrated. Do not feel guilty about something beyond your control.

I agree, call now and get a script for zofran or phegran or both =) sometimes one won't work for you but the other will. Reglan can also work.

Also drink lots of water,

You can try pressure points I find them about 80% effective. It seems to works better on patients that don’t know I'm doing it but I guess if you’re doing it yourself you cant hide it lol.

Also for some, ginger does the trick, I recommend the sugared kind of ginger, as the pure kind is pretty spicy and can actually upset your stomach more.

Stay hydrated and call your doc..

I agree, see your doctor now! I spent too many days in the hospital for dehydration that caused pre-term labor just because I was too timid to call the MD. Good luck to you, hope you feel better soon!

see doc ASAP...

don't worry about work...they will just have to understand that this is a critical part of your preg and you must receive appropriate care

If they give you probs, file a complaint with HR

and DON'T feel guilty...taking care of your children (born and unborn) and yourself are TOP PRIORITY...you can replace a job (smile)

Well I went in to see my ob today. I am so glad I did. I didnt have any ketones in my urine so that was good. They did an ultrasound to rule out a molar pregnancy because apparently you get really sick with those. I saw my little beanie's heartbeat:redbeathe.

So she gave me a script for Phenergan 25mg q6 and said I could also take vitamin B6 100mg 3x day and also take Unisom at bedtime (anti-emetic properties)

YAY!

Thanks for your replies. I did call my boss and she was so understanding. I cant give good care if I am feeling that bad and they strive for excellence.

There is also a gi bug going around (which is nothing new...that is all the time) but I know its not that. This has been going on bad since Saturday night. Its not a virus!

Glad you got some meds and everything else is doing good. Isn't it so cool to see the heartbeat!!! I got to see mine sucking her thumb the other day (way too cool)!

My doc gave me a script for Zofran. If the phenergan doesn't work or makes you too groggy, ask for this. However, it is very expensive, but OMG worth it!

Now I wait for having to call in for a script for Prevacid or Pepcid. lol It's time for me to get heartburn.

I know! Seems like yesterday I was posting that I was pregnant! :) Third tri has kicked my butt hard though, between that a winter colds. Makes working a 12hr shift VERY hard now.

The comment "Oh, you're waddling now!" gets old (esp when it's from someone who said the same darn thing to you yesterday). lol

Aneroo,

Its hard working when your pregnant, isnt it? I worked until 38 weeks with my last one and I was SO miserable. Between morning sickness :o and sciatica I wasnt worth anything!

I love the "waddle", its too cute!:chuckle
