Help Pls...ca Nclex Passer Without Ssn

Hi there.. I hope someone could enlighten me with this..

I recently passed the NCLEX RN CA and will be taking the IELTS real soon. I'm in the Philippines and I don't have an SSN. Thus, I was informed that they cannot issue me my license. Add to that, they would destroy my file 3 years without their receipt of my SSN.

I don't have any idea on what to do next. How do I get this SSN? Am aware that they cannot issue me SSN since I'm not a US citizen nor have I ways to go there. Should I just find an agency to do all the works for me or should I apply for my visa screen? Cause I was thinking of applying for my visa screen first before I find my agency plus I will be starting work only only next month.

Can someone tell me the process of how to get a visa screen? The steps and who to contact, through the internet perhaps. I really have no idea how to do it.

Another thing is my family's suggesting to transfer my license to another state..Again, how do I go about it? Is my license needed before I can apply for reciprocity..I was thinking maybe NY, Florida or Chicago.

just want to clarify...can a cali nclex rn passer apply in vermont brn for endorsement? will vermont ask for the same requirements as for licensure? like the local license? even just for endorsement? ...

unless you have a ssn you do not have a license to endorse so have to go through license by application and arrange for ca to forward your results. even then foreign nurses usually have to meet requirements for foreign trained. i know when i passed with ny and endorsed to az i still had to go through the same as if applying from new and go through ces

Endorsement process requires a license number to be able to use. For any state that does not issue a license number, you are not able to use the endorsement process as you do not hold a license in the US.

Passing of the NCLEX exam does not make you a licensed RN in the US if that state requires a SSN# to issue a license number to you.

once you take the nclex exam and passed it, you don't have to take it again.

if you are planning to go for vt, then you just have to apply for endorsement/application. in vt, their application for foreign nurses are the same for initial licensure and licensure by endorsement. in most states, it is a separate application but fortunately in vt it is one and the same.

you just need to send in your copy of test results to them that you passed the nclex.

don't you still need a social security number in renewing a vt license?? how can anyone who is outside the us do that??

some states are acknowledging that retrogression is effecting many from renewing without ssn and will make allowances if asked

It really is not a big issue if a license expires because one does not have a SSN# in the US. As long as you had a license initially issued to you, then it can always be reinstated when one does get the SSN#.

There would be documented proof that you had passed the NCLEX exam so there would not be a need to rewrite it as there could be with CA if one does not apply to a new state before the file is destroyed.

Passing of the NCLEX exam for CA, or any other state that does not issue a hard license means that one has to use the License by Examination application and then just have the state forward the passing results to the new state.

No license number issued means that there is no way to use the endorsement process.

hi ! im not yet an nclex passer ..but im still waiting for my eligibility letter from CA-BON.. upon reading this whole thing about SSN.. im really nervous because i really dont know about it..and i also read that it is impossible for me to get.. i should be physically present in US to get it and i should get an employer and everything..the whole process is driving me crazy..

is there any chance for me .. to change a state ?.. or if i already pass the nclex kay i endorse it TEXAs. where in my relatives are now?.. does texas also need SSN ? or not?...;-( and can i use my relatives SSN who is residing in texas temporarily for me to have a temporary license from California?..pls help..im really confused..i dont now what to do..im just a fresh graduate..no experience stilll. im just waiting for my eligibility letter..pls help

There is really no issue if you don't get a license. Some States do not give the hard license if no US SSN, while others do. It doesn't really matter much as far as being petitioned is concerned. The US SSN requirement being imposed by some States is there to make sure no illegal immigrants can be given a license.

CA BRN will give a letter to their applicants saying either they passed the NCLEX or they failed it and that letter is all that is needed to start the petition. The hard license is not required to start the petition but just proof of passing the NCLEX and/or CGFNS exam.

Some people don't even use the NCLEX-RN exam to start the immigration process and just uses the proof of passing the CGFNS exam since the requirement only calls for either one. Of course, they need to eventually take the NCLEX-RN exam to get licensure to the State of their choice afterwards.

Their is just this misconception that the actual license is needed to start the immigration process. It is not.

If you chose CA BRN, they will only give a letter saying you passed and that you are given 3 years to give the US SSN. As mentioned, that letter is valid to start the process.

Once the immigration process is complete and you are already in the US you can then apply for the US SSN and then supply that to CA BRN to get your hard license as actually working in CA would need you to be properly registered.

Hope everything is clear now for you. A US SSN is unique for each individual. You cannot use someone else's US SSN and doing so is illegal. Not sure who suggested you that but that is illegal.

hi another question is...because i apply my nclex in california...there is no way for me to work in other state like texas.until i get an ssn number for me to have a license?... so if i be going to US... i should be first working in california.?

There is no way for you to work in the US at this time, and once you get thru the immigration process, you will be able to get your own SSN#. There is no way for you to work in the US without having one.

And there is no way for you to be working if you come to the US as we do not have any visas available for you, or anyone else at this time.

Not sure if you are aware that you are looking at five years minimum for a chance at a green card, and you cannot work without a visa that will permit you to work here.

Suggest that you take the time to do some reading on this forum as you are not applying for the NCLEX exam, but you are applying for licensure. There is also no way that one can apply directly for the exam, it requires permission to sit for it. You may wish to start with the Primer at the top of this page for information that you need to be aware of.
