Help! I think my boss is having an affair with a coworker

:uhoh21: Help, I think my supervisor (is the DON) is having an affair with a coworker, I will not state who is the male or female, but it is so painfully obvious something is going on. He/she is just gushing over the supervisor. Yesterday I think I walked in the office as they were doing something because I overheard one of them say "you better watch out" as I was entering the office. OMG, one of them is married, and it is purely uncomfortable. I really want to say something but don't know if I should. I was thinking along the lines of "what you do outside of work is your business, but what you do inside of work affects all of us". it is kind of sickening actually. :barf01: :barf01: :barf01: :barf01:

Any advice from "professional people" who actually act like grown-ups at work?

Yes. Unless it's affecting pt. care, other employees, or me personally, i'd stay out of it. It's their personal lives, no matter how screwed up it is.

Uncomfortable is their problem. Can't just assume they're having an affair, anyway, unless they're going at it with the door open.

As long as it isn't interfering with patient care, there is no reason to get involved. If you get involved you may find yourself with more trouble that you bargained for in the long run. The wisest advice is to keep out of any behavior that doesn't affect you directly. It may be hard to do, and don't buy into gossip from others about it either. What you heard may not have been what you think it was. Believe half of what you see, and nothing of what you hear. You will find that no matter where you chose to work there will always be "professional people" who act like immature children.

Chiming in with another "DON'T get involved" in any way, shape or form!! It really sucks to witness unprofessional behavior of this kind (if that is indeed what is going on) in our co-workers, but you will be opening a really nasty can of worms by saying anything to anybody. Steer clear of the whole situation unless patients are somehow compromised - like by your coworker taking excessive or excessively long breaks, etc..

As long as it isn't interrupting patient care, I'd leave well enough alone. So far, the only this I can see from your post that is affected is your sense of morality. It's unfortunate but this happens more frequently that people might know, and it really is up to the people involved, to , as adults, choose how they are going to act.

Unless patient care is being ignored, interrupted, etc, or inappropriate behavior happens on the job then I would stay far far away from it.

Stay out of it unless it affects pt care. Life at work could be very stressful for you if you did mention something about it. They will hang themselves.

I agree. I'd mind my own business and stay out of it.

"MYOB" isn't necessarily the right answer here. If they are as obvious as the OP says, it could constitute sexual harassment, by "Creating a hostile work environment." But just ask yourself if you REALLY want to go down that path?

MYOB is a great piece of advice. You don't even know for sure it is happening, you assume it is happening and you think it is happening. You have no proof so sexual harassment is certainly not an issue.
