Ok folks, time has come to Start anew.......over 1000 posts means LOTS of bandwidth use here at allnurses.com. So I have been asked to remedy the situation.....
Anyhow, I have enjoyed so much your sharing, help and support here on the Healthier Living Thread....let's keep it up!!!!!:)
QOD: What is your favorite "old" or "new" healthy food/recipe? Care to share?
I have "rediscovered" oatmeal. Yep old fashioned good ole Quaker Oats-----the slow cooked kind.....with raisins, a bit of cinnamon and some Splenda.....YUMMY. Eating this as my dh's cholesterol and lipid counts were very high---trying to clean up my own dietary practices to help him with his....anyhow.....
Anyone else? As you change/grow/develop new tastes, what are your "old" or "new" healthier-choice favorites??? Care to share????
Deb....I haven't made the chowder yet, but when I do I'll be sure and post how dee-licious I know it's going to be. Wish I had my own kitchen to cook in, but for now must make due with wherever I'm hanging out these days. Geesh! Guess there's a first time for everything, and I'm pretty much "homeless" right now. Nary to worry...my God will save me. I know HE will because I'm not doing a good job of saving myself from financial ruins this entire past year.
I HATE 2005, :angryfire and will get drunk with joy when it's OVERRRRRRRR!!!!
Sorry, I meant meal instead of mean. :)Hope I didn't say something to offend you?
Pray everything is okay with you.
I am too lazy to go back (wish there was a way to click on a link to the referenced post, that would be nice eh?)
I SURELY wasn't mad at you, I think I was trying to joke about "mean" versus "meal" - I am so sorry if I threw you off! Glad you asked!
As to the other stuff I wrote, it was general hostility toward having to work on my food rather than anything toward you, I am SO SORRY! Forgive me?:flowersfo
I find it strange that they are open. Those poor workers open for the anal retentive gym bunnies who can't miss a day of workout. John's not like that he only works out three times a week, every Sat. & Sun. and once during the week. They are only open for four hours from 8-12, so at least the kids working there can have a holiday.
Woo gots Buddah tummy today, Tweety?
ROFL I feel pretty good. I kept it to about 3000kcal....lolJess, how did the Turkey turn out?
And Zoe how are you???
Renee, Tweety, Steph, Chelli, everyone--- are you shopping today????? Or did you choose to stay in like me, and NOT face the crowds?
Love your Christmas quote! I'm going GREAT - I got sick for about a week and didn't take any meds - now I am back on them EXCEPT for an antidepressant and I feel BETTER??? go figure. I see the doc on Monday.
Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease!
Bless your heart---hopefully you can find what works Zoe!!!As far as the Christmas quote, thanks for saying that. The threads about working Christmas inspired me to find that one.
Whoops, I was thinking that was Tweety answering me, I didn't notice it was you! Yeah, it's a GREAT quote - and one that helps me remember what Christmas IS - I don't have much $ this year, may not even be able to get anything for my son (he's 18, "deal with it" LOL) - but as sad as that is, we have SO MUCH Deb - just so much - I'm very thankful!
I always CHOSE to work many holidays cuz I just didn't want to deal with them - and work was always a better place than my head at the time!

This is the way to do it. :)
I took out my turkey on Sunday and put it in the tub :chuckle
Today, it was nice and defrosted, so I went ahead and seasoned it with all my caribbean spices. Tomorrow I will "touch it up" , stuff it and into the oven it goes. Just hope it tastes good.
