Ok folks, time has come to Start anew.......over 1000 posts means LOTS of bandwidth use here at allnurses.com. So I have been asked to remedy the situation.....
Anyhow, I have enjoyed so much your sharing, help and support here on the Healthier Living Thread....let's keep it up!!!!!:)
QOD: What is your favorite "old" or "new" healthy food/recipe? Care to share?
I have "rediscovered" oatmeal. Yep old fashioned good ole Quaker Oats-----the slow cooked kind.....with raisins, a bit of cinnamon and some Splenda.....YUMMY. Eating this as my dh's cholesterol and lipid counts were very high---trying to clean up my own dietary practices to help him with his....anyhow.....
Anyone else? As you change/grow/develop new tastes, what are your "old" or "new" healthier-choice favorites??? Care to share????
Deb, I wish I had a good answer to the QOD, because I'm so tired of school right now I really want to quit. I'm overwhelmed with the reading and can't bring myself to get enthused to do it, listen to the lectures, and study for the test. Hopefully, it's just a slump that I can ride out. Only four more weeks until a break, but it's a bit much for me right now.
Plus my diet this week being alone has been horribly crappy and I haven't worked out and I'm depressed. Somebody slap me please.
Seriously, I'm o.k. Probably just PMS.
I think what works for me is just starting over, even if I have to start over daily, or several times a day. Putting the past failures and mistakes behind and beginning a new day with lessons learned.
So tonights it's salmon, veggies, and beans with tomatoes with PR spices. Then tomorrow's another day. But I still ain't studying.
Hope this isn't a bummer, but if I can't be honest with where I'm at, then what's the point of this thread. LOL
...With herbs/spices/seasonings you can really enjoy a delicious mean without the unecessary fat too. :)
Jess, was that "mean" a Freudian slip? I have huge resentments about this whole fitness/healthy eating thing, doesn't matter to ME what I call it I still hate it! but I did read most of the posts on this thread (well, part I anyway) and HAVE to be assimilating SOMEthing!
Good luck Jess and to all!

Darn hormones!
I did order the tortilla soup at dinner last night . . .rich chicken broth and chunks of chicken with jack cheese and avocado . . .I'm sure it was not low cal but better than the shrimp quesadillas, refried beads, rice, sour cream, etc., that my daughter ate. I did have chips and salsa but tomatoes are good for ya, right!?:) And I drank water, not soda, not beer, not a margarita.
What amazes me is I struggle with 10 pounds of weight loss and some folks have accomplished so much more than that. Makes ya feel like such a loser sometimes.
Up off this computer old woman and get thee to the treadmill, now!
steph

Sorry, I meant meal instead of mean. :)
Hope I didn't say something to offend you?
Pray everything is okay with you.
Feeling better today. Maybe it was because I was coming down with a tiny little cold that has passed. :)
I just read you are tired of school. Bless your heart. I say we quit?
NOT!!!! Let that bug go away soon, and just think.....in a few weeks it will be a brand new spankin' year. Heads up, smile, take a deep breath, hold it, let it out, and smilllllllllllllllllllllle!
Best wishes to you Tweety :balloons:
