Ok folks, time has come to Start anew.......over 1000 posts means LOTS of bandwidth use here at allnurses.com. So I have been asked to remedy the situation.....
Anyhow, I have enjoyed so much your sharing, help and support here on the Healthier Living Thread....let's keep it up!!!!!:)
QOD: What is your favorite "old" or "new" healthy food/recipe? Care to share?
I have "rediscovered" oatmeal. Yep old fashioned good ole Quaker Oats-----the slow cooked kind.....with raisins, a bit of cinnamon and some Splenda.....YUMMY. Eating this as my dh's cholesterol and lipid counts were very high---trying to clean up my own dietary practices to help him with his....anyhow.....
Anyone else? As you change/grow/develop new tastes, what are your "old" or "new" healthier-choice favorites??? Care to share????
Aaah Jess, I can empathyze - I know just what you mean. I had planned on being sooooooo good - but that evil cake found me. Oh well, I think I'm over it now - back on the bandwagon. I feel like I gained 5 lbs. over the holiday - the scale says it ain't so, but I don't know if I believe it or not.
I will try to be good until Christmas at least. I figure, if I give myself a "free day" over the holiday, then maybe I will behave more than trying to be too restrictive. . . I hope.
Anyway, glad you're back!

:rotfl: Ahhhh I am not alone. That evil cake and pie I tell you. For me, it has been those caramel pecan turtles! (insert watering mouth here)..........
At least I am conscious about it. Years ago, I had no guilt and surely I payed the price. :)
 to healthy eating and living.
I'm still doing good, but I skipped the gym today in favor of yoga tonight and errands I had. I just can't do it all some days. But I'm off the rest of the week and will fit in plenty of gym time.
Sarah, I had that those diets leave out the superfood beans. They add good soluable fiber that helps to keep the cholestorol in check (from eating so much meat), and have antioxidants and are truly a superfood. I hope when you're off the diet you go back to putting the beans in your chili.
I made some turkey soup for supper after yoga. I used a lot of the leftover dark meat, which isn't the healthiest, but it's better than chicken dark meat, so I hear.
Jess, we all have our "sticking" points.....I know I do.
I was good, went to Curves today, doing the circuit 1 1/2 times. My goal is to do it twice 3-4 days a week. I need to really work on this poor body. A lady there lost 70 lb and 100 cholesterol points in 1 year, doing the circuit 2x 3 days a week. I am building some steam....getting stronger. I just need to leave those SWEETS alone!!!!
SO you are not alone, Jess.
Sarah, WAY TO GO ----you are doing terrific!
Tweety, you are right;beans are good for ya. Got a 15 bean mix soaking for soup for tomorrow. Trying to incorporate more of these into my diet w/o gassing out the house. MY poor lil digestive system is shocked rofl.
:rotfl: :rotfl:
You know since beans have been such a staple in my diet for years I forget they do that some folks. When I first started eating beans when I used to be a vegetarian about 14 years ago, they did cause gas problems. But I perservered because I read eventually your body gets used to them. It's true, now I don't have a problem. Since going off vegetarian, I still incorporate a lot of beans into my diet without difficulty.

I did three miles on the treadmill and was able to stand upping the speed for a mile anyway. I judge it by how much I sweat . . . and I was dripping. :)
It is snowing harder now. So no walk with ds.
Gotta think of something delicious for dinner - and healthy.
